The Managed NAND (mNAND) Validation team at Micron is seeking a highly motivated Validation Architect to plan and implement product test methodologies for Mobile and Embedded (Auto grade) managed NAND devices

You will design and develop test processes with multiple sub functional teams including Firmware Test, Product Validation and System Validation across multiple geographies.   You will work closely with cross functional teams related to ASIC, FW development, Design & Verification, Advanced Development, and product Quality teams to develop and innovate scalable product validation procedures for eMMC (embedded Multi-Media Card) and UFS (Universal Flash storage) devices.

You will assist in the development of new mNAND products by developing new test methodologies as well as defining improvements for existing test programs. You will have primary responsibility for the validation of firmware on both Discrete and MCP (Multi-Chip package) device configurations.  

You will be responsible for strategic and validation improvement to reduce cost and lead times while maintaining industry leading product quality.   Job duties will also include creating and maintaining various technical documents to assist with supporting, training and educating various teams within Micron.

You will be expected to work independently, guided by functional objectives and serve as a technical authority globally throughout Micron.  Your decisions will have a significant impact on the success of the most critical technical initiatives and you will be viewed as a subject matter expert to resolve issues and solve highly complex problems.  You may be sought out to provide advice and counsel to executive management on significant technical issues. 

Job Requirements:

  • Build validation model and strategy across multiple sub functional teams for industry leading validation execution and capabilities.
  • Define test content that includes pre-conditioning, usage/workloads, benchmarks and stress conditions to validate managed memory devices.
  • Lead across functional boundaries to properly plan and accomplish end goals
  • Plan resources surrounding test strategy to complete projects successfully.

Successful candidate for this position will likely:

  • Demonstrate analytical thinking with proven problem-solving skills
  • Understand eMMC/UFS protocol and architecture
  • Possess experience with NAND and/or controller debug and testing
  • Have a basic background in NAND flash operations, including data sheet knowledge of specification
  • Be required to travel abroad for short periods
  • Have strong interpersonal, communication, and technical writing skills

Additional experience in the following fields is desired:

  • Mobile product development and debug
  • Architecture of mobile phones or systems
  • Various Mobile OS and/or drivers.
  • Python or similar scripting language.

Minimum Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field plus 6+ years of relevant industry work experience, or
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field plus 4+ years of relevant industry work experience, or
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field plus 2+ years of relevant industry work experience.
