Sr. Manager, MXA Failure Analysis and Reliability Lab

Job Description:

As Sr. Manager of MXA FA and Reliability Lab, you will be responsible for leading FA team to identify and research component failures to improve product yield, quality and/or reliability. Evaluates the electrical and mechanical characteristics of coordinated circuits, components, subcomponents, and DRAM module to determine the root cause of failure. Analyzes failure reports and recommends corrective action to prevent reoccurrence of problems. Responsible for executing DRAM product reliability monitor program in lab and reporting monitor result to global Reliability monitor team. Also responsible for maintaining FA/Reliability equipment in good condition and budget forecast.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage MXA lab to streamline FA /Reliability monitor flow, prioritization, equipment maintenance, efficiency improvement to hit KPIs goal and status report
  • Interface and establish communication paths, coordination of activities, setting of priorities, and interpretation of results with/from Electrical FA, Customer Support, Data Analytics, and Factory teams
  • Participation in Weekly Quality meetings to help drive activities to understand root cause and corrective actions
  • Ensure documentation of all observations and conclusions through images, detailed failure analysis reports, and clear identification of a conclusion.
  • Monitoring the FA findings for identification of new or growing issues, guiding analysis appropriately, and communication of the investigation plan and results
  • Developing new tools, techniques, procedures, and analytics to improve the understanding of failure modes and root causes while reducing the analysis time required
  • Hands-on work in the Electrical and package FA lab to guide and support skills improvement of the team
  • Connect to global Reliability monitor networking to plan and execute reliability monitor program. Trigger defect management business process for product risk assessment once valid reliability failure.
  • Maintain Lab equipment/tool in good uptime performance and EHS compliance.


You should possess a Bachelor or a Master of Science degree or a Ph.D. in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience and/or degree and/or background. Additional qualifications include:

  • Ability to demonstrate in-depth understanding of analytical equipment and semiconductor process flow operation
  • Lab experience with FA tools such as scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Focused Ion Beam (FIB), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Electrical Testing and Fault Isolation using emission based techniques or similar would be an added advantage
  • Minimum 10 years of experience of FA including 5+ year FA manager position in consumable electronic manufacturing, semiconductor manufacturing, reliability test. Specific failure analysis expertise in at least one filed, includes electronics components, semiconductor devices, semiconductor manufacturing, PCB manufacturing
  • Demonstrate basic package reliability knowledge and stress, failure mechanism
  • Strong analytical skills. Ability to compile FA data into conclusive story
  • Ambitious with strong English written and verbal communications skills
