Job Description


As an Equipment Engineering Automation Section Manager, your primary responsibility is to lead a team of engineers in implementing automation solutions, which enable labour productivity improvement, cycle time reduction and quality/yield improvements.

An experienced engineering manager, who is a natural motivator, you are capable of building cross-functional relationships and championing their team to successfully deliver multiple projects in a fast-paced highly innovative environment.

A technical manager who can implement large-scale automation projects, which are complex with strict timelines. This requires establishing clear timelines, technical requirements with internal and external partners, identify risks and associated mitigation plans while clearly communicating to program stakeholders.


Responsibilities and Tasks



Evaluate improvement opportunities and proposed solutions for automation projects

•             Participate and drive development of automation strategy, in-line with overall Micron BE automation solutions

•             Evaluate improvement ideas based on return on investment, quality and safety/ergonomics improvement

•             Partner with internal team members and automation vendors to design solutions to meet improvement objectives

•             Propose improvement ideas to management for approval

•             Plan overall project within expected scope, budget and timeline


Lead, mentor & grow a team of world class automation engineers

•             Recruit the best talent to form the ideal team structure

•             Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure efficient utilization of technology and team resources

•             Motivate team to perform to the highest potential

•             Continuous build up team’s technical competencies through knowledge sharing and industry benchmarking


Lead implementation of automation solutions

•             To effectively manage the automation engineering resources to deliver complex multiple projects on time and to budget

•             Collaborate with counterparts in other sites to ensure consistency of automation projects

•             Closely work with and monitor supplier’s timeline and resources

•             Identify and track overall site project milestone, technical challenges, lead-times and risk mitigation plans

•             Setup regular meeting with cross functional team to ensure successful implementation of automation solutions



Required: Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science or Industrial Engineering



•             8+ years relevant working experience in electronics or semiconductor manufacturing environment

•             Minimum 4 years of experience in a supervisory role with direct reports

•             Practical experience working with AMHS (Automated Material Handling Systems), equipment automation

•             Practical knowledge of MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and Dispatch/Scheduling tool in a high-volume manufacturing environment

•             Contractual and commercial awareness

•             Working knowledge of MCS (Material Control System)

•             Familiarity with semiconductor/electronics backend assembly and test processes are advantageous



•             Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral. Able to communicate at all levels and capable of managing their expectations

•             Ability to work and motivating team to deliver under demanding timelines and situations

•             Skilled with the preparation of project proposals for automation solutions

•             Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams and projects. PMP certification are advantageous
