System Quality and Reliability Assurance Managed NAND Principal Engineer

We are looking for a highly talented, passionate, and versatile qualification Principal Engineer who will work in the System Quality and Reliability Assurance (SQRA) group and closely with the development team to qualify NAND storage products with Managed NAND technology. He/she will lead a team of highly professional engineers and will interact regularly with teams from other sites or departments to maintain alignment, improve area efficiencies and foster working relationships. He/she will also perform managerial reviews and sign-offs while providing technical support and expertise.  The ideal candidate for this role will share our passion for best-in-class quality and new technologies in a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Manage Staff, workflows and priorities
  • Manage, develop and coach an engineering team providing recognition and driving accountability
  • Determine equipment needs and facilitate new equipment such as working with QRA planners on forecast modeling; combining business unit, manufacturing and engineering data to determine needs; identifying lowest cost solution and budget for new equipment purchases; coordinating with other departments on new hardware and negotiate with them on shared tools; conducting efficiency audits
  • Foster customer Quality and Reliability relationships at all levels of the organization and protect Micron and the customer from issues
  • Manage QRA Communication with Internal/External customers and escalate quality and reliability issues with significant risk to customer base
  • Foster product and service alignment to the customer quality and reliability requirements while supporting Micron’s business plan
  • Align with stakeholders on key technical communication and requirements to customer
  • Collaborating on internal direction with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Business Units, etc.
  • Prevent future recurrence through detection and prevention improvements
  • Manage qualification tests execution on memory devices in collaboration with the Laboratory Quality team
  • Support Failure Analysis and coordinate root cause and corrective action with other internal engineering groups
  • Analyze Reliability data for product validation within specific internal and customer requirements
  • Understand new processes/technologies, new failure modes as well as new HW/FW technologies for product quality and reliability issues involving Managed NAND products
  • Report out qualification results for internal and customer communication


Successful candidate skills for this position

  • Strong experience with lab tools: Logic Analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG/ICE debuggers and protocol analyzers
  • Strong knowledge of NAND memory operation, architecture and reliability
  • Strong knowledge of statistical analysis
  • Good Knowledge of firmware, micro-controller and file system concepts
  • Proactive and successful approach to analyze problems, diagnose root cause, and apply corrective actions
  • Excellent communication and ability to work in a cross-cultural global team environment
  • Customer-oriented
  • Flexibility to handle short-notice needs/requests
  • Experience in managing, developing and coaching an engineering team
  • High level of both verbal and written English skills
  • Programming experience in C, PERL and JMP a plus



  • Master Degree in Electronic/Computer Engineering, Physics or related fields with five or more years of experience in a similar role required
