As a Non-Volatile Engineering (NVEG) Managed NAND Design Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc. you will be responsible for defining hardware and firmware requirements for managed NAND or for developing software and hardware tools needed for system level analysis. You will deliver accurate and clear documentation, as needed to drive internal and external third parties, or you will develop software and hardware tools needed for system level analysis including manuals/guidelines.

Other responsibilities include maintaining any relevant documentation for all product types/tools and providing investigative support for validation, characterization, qualification and customer issues.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Develop software and hardware tools needed for system level analysis. Design software models and electronic subsystems for Managed NAND systems analysis, prototype development, and system platforms debug. Developing, prototyping, measuring, and validating future technologies (e.g. a new feature) and methodologies (e.g. power measurements in-system) for managed NAND products to enable architectural trade/off analysis for current and future products:

  • FW/SW integration on a micro-controller (ARM, ARC)
  • C / C++ for OS kernel modification and compile
  • Board hw design to develop prototypes
  • Provide tradeoff analysis for future NAND and Controller designs
  • Host platform management and modification
  • Lab Tool (scope, LA, Protocol Analyzer)
  • JEDEC standards (eMMC, UFS) knowledge
  • Embedded microcontroller-based platform architecture knowledge
  • Knowledge of ONFI protocols
  • FW Architecture knowledge

Convert the market requirements into product design requirements and choose the optimal controller, NAND and FW. It includes maintaining any relevant documentation for all product types/tools and providing investigative support for validation, characterization, qualification and customer issues:

  • Provide feasibility response to MRTD delivered by BU [pre TRD phase]
  • Provide hardware architecture and requirements to external and internal parties based on TRD
  • Provide system architecture description and requirement for FW Development based on TRD
  • Define success criteria document (SCD) for Managed NAND to NAND development team
  • Estimate performance at device interface
  • Estimate and measure performance at system level
  • Provide Failure Analysis Support (Internal validation, Internal QA, External Customer)
  • Drive Validation Strategy on Real Operative System
  • Provide input to Micron standards bodies representatives
  • Provide primary support for lead vehicle customer qualifications
  • Knowledge of Digital Design
  • JEDEC standards (eMMC, UFS) knowledge
  • Embedded microcontroller-based platform architecture knowledge
  • Knowledge of ONFI protocols
  • FW Architecture knowledge
  • METHA/MD3 knowledge

To enable, validate and characterize Managed NAND solutions in system environment. Areas of accountability include development and design of SW and HW tools, test plans/scripts to evaluate new product features and assess solution competitiveness, increase test coverage and efficiency.

  • System Architecture knowledge
  • FW Architecture knowledge
  • C/C++ OS kernel modification and compile
  • Customer Usage Model analysis and replay
  • Performance benchmarking and optimization
  • System level profile of new features and related impact at device bus level
  • System platform management and modification for new memory features testing
  • Customer test Suite replication
  • Failure Analysis
  • HW/SW tools development for solution validation at system level
  • Lab Tool (scope, LA, Protocol Analyzer)
  • JEDEC (eMMC, UFS) standards knowledge
  • METHA knowledge
