In Micron’s Technology Development (TD) organization, we work in a state-of-the-art semiconductor facility to develop future memory technology. As a Photolithography Process Development Engineer, you will focus on Simulation Applications in our Taiwan Technology Center (TTC), you will be responsible for leading projects to solve critical lithography challenges for memory devices, in addition to other photolithography related activities.  In this position, you will be responsible for supporting simulation work for the photolithography team primarily in Boise Fab 4. This includes modeling to support optical simulation related to scribe mark, provide mark design recommendations, identifying root causes for complex problems, and providing simulation training for other photolithography engineers.  You will also define and lead projects to address photolithography performance gaps on current and future DRAM.


In this role, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Use commercial photolithography and metro simulation software to simulate scribe marks response vs different designs, film stack, process, scanner and litho conditions. Provide recommendations for mark design based on various KPIs from photo and metrology perspectives. 
  • Work closely with software suppliers to deliver solutions to meet Micron’s roadmap.
  • Work closely with manufacturing fabs to align software, hardware, and business processes.
  • Document and communicate plans, status, and results of R&D projects in written reports and presentations, including the analysis and interpretation of data.
  • Train and mentor photolithography engineers on simulations, optics, and relevant technical skills.
  • Define and lead complex projects with timelines of up to one year to address photolithography problems. 
  • Formulate projects when solutions are required beyond the scope of existing processes and infrastructure.
  • Participate in roadmap building, vendor meetings, etc. to drive Photo technology.


Qualifications and Sills include, but not limited to:

  • Proficient in Mandarin and English languages
  • Understanding of optics including the principles and application of lithography, polarized illumination, lens aberrations, and low k1 imaging.  Experience with all current lithography nodes, including 193 nm immersion and EUV, preferred.
  • Strong background in optical simulations.  Experience with SLitho, Hyperlith, Prolith, Tachyon, or other simulation software preferred.
  • Strong background in overlay. Thorough understanding of how lens aberrations, scanner chuck differences, and process variations can affect overlay.
  • Understand various alignment and overlay marks, such as IBO and DBO.  Understand how mark type and design can impact overlay errors and non-zero offsets (NZO).  Experience with overlay mark simulation software (D4C or MTD) is a plus.
  • Ability to work in highly collaborative environment with TD and HVM (high volume manufacturing) partners in globally diverse geographic locations.
  • Driven and passionate to understand or can demonstrate knowledge of common memory chip architectures and the required process steps utilized to build them.
  • Your skills are strong in the application of project management to complete project style work for periods of weeks up to a year in duration.
  • You are strong and effective communicator both in verbal, listening, and written form. We thrive on clear and effective communication to tackle complex problems.
  • You can solve hard problems using Design of Experiments (DOE) with advanced statistical software like JMP, Minitab, Tableau, and others.



  • M.S./PhD in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or study relevant to Photolithography with 3+ years’ semiconductor process related experience with emphasis on Photolithography; or a B.S. in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics with 5+ years’ semiconductor process related experience with emphasis on Photolithography will be considered.
