Job Description :

As a Frontend Central Quality Process Control System (PCS) Engineer at Micron, you will be responsible for improving the process control of one or more of the disciplines in the FDC, R2R, SPC, E-diagnostics, Automation or Metrology Sampling for all Micron Fabs.
You work with Front End Fabs, TD, MCT, Corp IT and SMAI team resources to provide direction and assistance with process control systems and help coordinate control systems across multiple facilities with the aim at reducing overall product & process variation which will result in higher process margins, increased yield and reliability.


Responsibilities and Tasks :

  • Provide direction on the facilitation of the practical application of one of the following PCS disciplines of FDC, R2R, SPC, or Metrology Sampling within MFG environment.
  • Partner with SMAI, MCT and IT to ensure all business needs are properly documented, validated, and escalated as needed.
  • Facilitate root cause activities on fabs related excursion to ensure proper reaction PCS actions are followed through on. Be able to support PCS teams worldwide by providing guidance in statistical techniques for development of control technique (EG. DOE, multivariate stats, time series analysis)
  • Work with or lead SWAT and Subject Matter Experts to identify business process gaps and Best Known Methods and facilitate communication plan for all SWAT activities to/from stakeholders, participants, and management. Refine SWAT charter, and build roadmap going forward for WW alignment and continuous improvement of process control practices.

Program Management

  • Demonstrate ability to move projects effectively through project lifecycle – initiate, plan, execute, and close – while balancing time, cost, quality, scope and risk/opportunity constraints.
  • Motivate stakeholders and all project team members to take ownership of project and its success.
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of others to accomplish project tasks successfully.
  • Define metrics to gauge project success.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple conflicting projects based on Fab and corporate objectives.
  • Maintain a portfolio of projects that maximizes ROI for the program and supports the PCS/Quality/MCT/Corporate roadmaps.



  • Provide periodic updates based on project criticality to stakeholders and team members on project status, progress, and roadblocks/opportunities..
  • Offer and communicate strategic ideas and thinking to meet corporate objectives. Listen to customer’s and stakeholder’s input/feedback and act to maximize benefit to Micron and meet corporate goals.
  • Build and maintain external and internal relationships to broaden influence and increase learning opportunities in the PCS area.
  • Provide communication to the WW PCS group on PCS lessons learned, project repositories, summits, new technologies, conference proceedings, Best Known Methods (BKMs), and one-on-one site visits.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity - Show respect for different cultures and languages
  • Communicate effectively with vendors/suppliers. Understand and use appropriate communication channels (other Central Team members, Purchasing, etc.). Clearly and accurately communicate Micron’s needs and objectives to vendors/suppliers. Adheres to company ethics and confidentiality policies regarding vendors/suppliers.
  • Demonstrate Individual Competence/Technical Expertise
  • Provide technical consulting and hands-on assistance to Fab PCS teams for creation and/or identification of best PCS solutions/controllers, troubleshooting existing PCS solutions/controllers, and deployment of PCS solutions/controllers.
  • Define PCS software requirements for IT. Act as the liaison between SWAT team and PCS IT team; provide technical expertise to assist IT with understanding the SWAT’s current and future needs.
  • Evaluate PCS solutions - third-party software and hardware selection.
  • Recognize functional and business process gaps. Formulate proposals for closing them.
  • Have a general understanding of the PCS disciplines and in-depth knowledge of at least 1 of the following: R2R control, FDC, SPC, e-Diagnostics, Engineering Data Collection, and metrology sampling.
  • Increase technical expertise by participating in classes conferences, and researching existing literature and existing Micron expertise.



  • Ensure all sites understand any safety concern for PCS system installation/release.
  • Maintain knowledge of equipment safety concerns with respect to PCS applications and their possible effects. Ensure all new PCS applications/systems are installed in a manner that will allow for safe working conditions.
  • Encourage a safe working environment.
  • Maintain knowledge of Fab safety policies and enforce these policies.
  • Follow up with Safety Coordinator on any occurrence, and determine best solution. Implement ASAP.
  • Adhere to Fab Safety specs.

Requirements :

  • Bachelors Degree in Applied Maths/Engineering/Statistics or related field of study

2 years experience in any of the following:

  • Process Control or Metrology experience.
  • An engineering background and experience, with an understanding of Fab processes and tools with other experience such as ASQ certification, Process Control Systems, Statistical Process Control, Fault Detection and Classification, e-Diagnostics, Run-to-Run Control, Wafer-to-Wafer Control, Scheduling or Sampling, process metrology, Interfacing with semiconductor process equipment, Lean, and Six Sigma.
  • Familiarity with area and Fab software applications, such as E3 R2R, E3 FD, GeRM, Sigma, SPACE, JMP, and Yield 3.
  • Familiarity with process control systems from Camline or AMAT.
