Senior Engineer, Customer Quality Engineering

We ensure Micron’s products are of the highest quality, meeting and exceeding customer expectations. Micron’s Global Quality function is a team of creative troubleshooters and problem solvers. We are looking for a Senior Engineer, Customer Quality Engineering to be part of our SSD Customer Quality Engineering Team. If you have expertise in quality concepts and processes, can drive collaboration and partnership, develop and execute strategic improvements, and lead and drive customer engagement, then we’d like to hear from you.


In this role, you will be the key customer-facing organization, dedicated to building excellent relationships with customers to assess their needs and follow up with your site Customer Quality Engineers or other Value chain contacts to ensure Micron is delivering elite Customer Quality Experience.


Responsibilities include:

  • Grow the technical strength of the Customer Quality Engineering organization in the client and data center SSD space through the creation and co-ordination of hands-on, instructor-led or online training programs
  • Lead problem-solving initiatives across the CQE organization with intent to improve response TAT to customers as well as buffer internal organizations from customer involvement
  • Lead Customer Quality Engineer team in supporting to achieve #1 Quality Rankings among a key customers cluster as determined by customer scorecards
  • Identify elite standards while highlighting gaps in product, process, and tools that are barriers to your team achieving the #1 position
  • Lead and optimize your team’s performance by ensuring their understanding and use of training tools, service strategies, customer metrics, and other business processes
  • Drive quality-related dedicated and reactive communication
  • Acknowledge and drive closure of RMAs, quality-related issues, and customer requests
  • Work closely with Site CQE to ensure robust preventive actions are in place so there is no recurrence of an issue
  • Be the key communication channel for dedicated quality initiatives such as Product Change Notices (PCNs)
  • Work closely with the customer to resolve their key concerns
  • Actively measure their satisfaction index to Micron’s Quality and project expected Quarterly Business Review (QBR) scores
  • Host monthly quality reviews and actively share Quality Health Assessment of customer products
  • Work with Quality Management System (QMS) team to set up standard customer audit reports to maximize efficiency


Secondary function: Customer Support and Internal Loops

  • Champion “voice of customers” on quality within Micron
  • Actively communicate feedback from your customers to Micron functions
  • Lead customer audit
  • Conduct training at customer sites


Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in materials science, electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent required, Masters degree preferred
  • 10+ years working in semiconductor industry preferred
  • 5+ years working in SSD hardware or firmware design, product engineering, failure analysis or manufacturing
  • 5+ years of experience with Quality processes and procedures preferred
  • 5+ years supervisory experience required
  • Ability to work effectively in multi-functional teams
