LOGISTICS ASSISTANT

Responsibilities and Tasks

Ensure Timely and Accurate Receipts of Incoming Inventory and Non-Inventory Shipments

  • Monitor movement of important shipments
  • Verify for proper company and commercial documentation
  • Inspect and sign for packages
  • Receive and process letter shipments, general freight, and internal shipments in order of appropriate prioritization
  • Maintain record retention for all receipt documents (Bill of Lading & Waybills)
  • Utilize internet software tracking systems to reflect status orders placed with suppliers (i.e. Fedex, UPS)
  • Document receiving discrepancies and interface with Procurement to resolve
  • Input discrepancy documentation into site tracking software
  • Interface with Accounts Payable for invoice issues related to P.O. to pay cycle
  • Interface with the Traffic and Logistics department for transport and damaged package issues
  • Address internal customer and buyer requests and concerns

 

Stock, Maintain, and Deliver Warehouse Inventory

  • Prioritize deliveries based on customer needs
  • Operate motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment (Manual/Electric Pallet jacks, forklifts, delivery vehicles, etc
  • Label and stock material according to First In / First Out (FIFO) rotation requirements
  • Process material requisitions
  • Audit inventory based on cycle count documentation and communicate results
  • Ensure timely deliveries of identified shipments to internal customers or designated customer pickup locations
  • Administer Inventory Control Functions

 

Perform regular Cycle counts according to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements

  • Reconcile Cycle count discrepancies
  • Investigate and resolve systematic reasons for inventory inaccuracies
  • Upload photos and create storage bin locations for new parts and materials
  • Maintain part and material information using Inventory Management software (i.e. Material Master, SAP)
  • Work with procurement to process and scrap damaged parts
  • Create, maintain, and monitor various types of Bin locations
  • Process Returns to Stock as consigned and owned materials
  • Schedule and conduct supplier compliance audits
  • Assist with ISO and Quality audits
  • Assist Finance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance audits

 

Prepare and Ensure Timely Deliveries of Identified Shipments to Internal and External Customers

  • Perform Site-to-Site Part transfers
  • Package, process, and label all outgoing shipments.
  • Process all return to buyer parts for shipment offsite
  • Create and process shipping documents in appropriate shipping software applications
  • Maintain shipping documentation according to record retention procedures
  • Interface with site crating team when determining appropriate packaging for larger pumps, robots, and larger shipments
  • Evaluate freight options to ensure lowest cost shipping methods
  • Ship materials to meet expected on dock delivery dates
  • Assist with DOT audits

 

Lead or Participate in Area Projects and Improvement Efforts

  • Lead or assist in the implementation of new procedures and policies
  • Identify and recommend changes to process flows and influence continuous improvement
  • Identify area problems and recommend solutions
  • Lead or assist in efforts for process and quality improvement, cost reduction, cost avoidance, and cost containment
  • Actively engage and participate in lean initiatives (i.e. 6S, TPM, CIP)
  • Lead or assist in area auditing
  • Engage in area and department meetings
  • Communicate ideas, concerns, and issues to supervisor

 

Maintain Experience and Provide Consultation

  • Maintain and continuously improve knowledge of Materials processes
  • Mentor other team members or customer groups in Materials procedures and processes
  • Serve as a point of contact for internal customers and buyers
  • Communicate information requests through phone calls, e-mail, and applicable systems

 

Promote a Safe Working Environment

  • Access and adhere to area Safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
  • Serve as an active participant in Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security programs by reporting all related concerns or problems immediately
  • Handle materials by applying ergonomic techniques
  • Process chemicals according to company and local Governmental requirements
  • Be proactive in preventing incidents of personal injuries, safety hazards or environmental releases
  • Maintain a clean and orderly working environment

 

Lead Area Projects and Improvement Efforts (Senior Level)

  • Develop or test new programs & improvements and provide input and feedback
  • Perform data collection and reporting generating activity-based reports of key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Lead in implementation of new procedures and policies
  • Ensure compliance of procedures and policies
  • Assist Supervisor with Front-line audits

 

Act as Area Leader and Provide Consultation (Senior Level)

  • Serve as primary customer training contact for area processes
  • Coordinate and assist with on-the-job training (OJT) for new hires
  • Lead or assist in planning and directing daily operational activities
  • Provide key resource information regarding questions and/or concerns related to all Material Operation processes
  • Provide shift passdown information
  • Perform troubleshooting for data and processing areas
  • Provide team member performance information to supervisor
  • Cover supervision duties in the absence of the supervisor
  • Monitor procedural and policy compliance for contractors
