Job Description

As a Metrology Technician, you have the opportunity to work in partnership with the production team and the process engineering team in a clean room environment. You will be responsible for monitoring, sustaining, and improving the equipment and/or processes in your area. These include creating and/or modifying equipment procedures, performing routine review of maintenance check sheets, and systematic problem solving and troubleshooting. You will also be required to assist with equipment installation, tests and to react to daily Statistical Process Control (SPC) out of control events. Engineering Technicians are required to keep the Engineering Engineer updated on tool and area issues.
Responsibilities and Tasks


Monitor, sustain and improve equipment and/or processes through recipe maintenance, tool recovery and basic troubleshooting of tool issues
Monitor, analyze and dispose out of control events for established SPC rules for both tool qualification and product measurements
Schedule and perform preventative maintenance on assigned tool sets, and use mechanical, electronic and PC/software skills to troubleshoot and repair equipment issues
Support engineering requests with testing and experimentation on processes and/or equipment and collect, document, and analyze data from these tests and experiments
Assist in tool installation, relocation and upgrades
Improve tool uptime through quality workmanship, systematic problem solving and troubleshooting
Document all maintenance performed in established check sheets and tracking programs, and routinely review maintenance check sheets and procedures
Update Engineering Operations Engineer on tool and area issues
Completing all required safety training and ensure all work is conducted in accordance with Micron safety policies
Minimizing variability and increasing tool availability
Partnering with other areas or departments to solve issues
Supporting and maintaining TPM and 6S activities
Perform work with accuracy and within a reasonable time
Communicate appropriately with other personnel, including 1st shift Equipment Engineers and other shifts as necessary
Supporting on engineering and/or production recipe setup or retrain.
Supporting on recipe setup for new device start up


All team members are required to complete their learning items within the stipulated time frame
For business process and/or QMS component that one is responsible or accountable for:
a) ensuring the QMS/business process that is effective and conforms to requirements
b) ensuring that the processes are delivering their intended outputs
c) reporting on QMS/business process performance and opportunities for improvement to management
d) ensuring the promotion of internal and external customer focus throughout the organization
e) ensuring the maintenance of the integrity of the QMS/ business process when changes are planned and implemented.
f) ensuring customer requirements are met




Other or equivalent experience

NITEC or Diploma in Engineering


Related field of study




1 year experience in any of the following:

Semiconductor experience



Basic understanding of semiconductor equipment and processes

Basic understanding of physics and/or chemistry concepts and principles

Basic data extraction, analysis and reporting skills

Basic PC skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Basic understanding of SPC, process control and its reaction mechanism

Demonstrate teamwork with a strong focus on developing good team dynamics

Proven ability to troubleshoot basic problems and address root causes

Good time management and prioritization skills
