As a Global Procurement Category Director, you will drive the vision of the Procurement Functional Area to enable service delivery, cost and leading a high performing team of Micron leaders. You will be building equipment/tools and spares management strategy, committing to category performance goals and optimizing departmental performance by collaborating partners to build and execute service strategies aligned.

With excellent analytical skills, you will monitor department performance metrics and lead functional area metrics for improvement opportunities. Collaborating with partners within engineering and manufacturing groups to deliver strategic solutions and bring-together an approach to cross-category vendors and key strategic suppliers. Maintaining close interaction with suppliers and internal business partners to ensure category-related needs are addressed while being the dedicated representative of Procurement.

Other responsibilities include striving for department compliance to company policies and regulations, as well as departmental procedures. We are looking for a highly-motivated leader to building and implementing department strategies, processes, and policy. With excellent initiative, you will also be responsible for conveying corporate business initiatives, providing direction thereof, and driving a clear understanding of line of site within your department.

Roles and Responsibilities

Lead Functional Area Service Delivery

  • Setting and delivering overall category savings and supplier management targets
  • Strive for a competitive total cost of ownership
  • Communicate and align strategy with Procurement VP and Procurement Business Partner Directors
  • Lead multiple category team members
  • Build comprehensive category management strategy for all categories under control
  • Maintain high level of interaction and input from Global Category Managers to develop informed, coordinated strategy
  • Run category specific projects and track implementation and results
  • Coordinate and communicate departmental policies and procedures
  • Be accountable for internal budgets and promote continuous cost reduction and quality improvement

Provide Organizational Leadership

  • Collaborate with Category Directors and Global Supplier Managers
  • Craft and maintain multi-year strategy roadmaps based on business needs and supplier landscape
  • Develop and monitor department performance to plan
  • Mentor current and future leaders
  • Collaborate with peers to construct global solutions to department and category issues
  • Ensure conflict resolution and assist with identifying blocking issue paths
  • Align internal strategies and communicate line of sight to corporate strategic objectives
  • Communicate the corporate business environment and initiatives and provide direction

Collaborate with Partners to Deliver Strategic Solutions

  • Collaborate to create and drive customer-centric approach to solving issues and representing Procurement
  • Maintain close interaction with business partners to ensure category-related needs addressed
  • Identify and understand department service requirements
  • Guide functional services with peer group and internal global partners
  • Lead conflict and build effective relationships, initiate and sustain effective communication with internal and external partners
  • Provide advice to senior and executive management on strategic decisions.


  • More than 10 years of leadership experience in Procurement
  • Sourcing capital equipment in a semiconductor manufacturing equipment
  • Engineering background or strong understanding of engineering fundamentals
  • Ability to work successfully in a complex high paced environment
  • Strong technical, financial and business acumen
  • Extensive contract negotiation experience
  • Demonstrated ability to influence executives, senior leaders and stakeholders and work comfortably across organizational boundaries and geographies
  • Ability to understand needs and translate them into actionable plans, deliverables, and resource requirements
  • Drive and execute a wide range of global initiatives with global teams
  • Develop and manage high performing teams
  • Customer service experience
  • Familiarity with technologies related to backend capital equipment


Required: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

  • Business Administration/Management
  • Engineering
  • Related field of study

Desired: Master’s Degree

  • Business Administration/Management
  • Engineering


  • Professional Certification in related field (i.e. APICS, PMI)
