Job Scope 

An Automotive Field Applications Engineer (FAE) Manager at Micron leads a team of subject matter experts that provide technical support for the integration and validation of Micron products into automotive applications such as infotainment, cluster, connectivity/V2X and ADAS subsystems.  The FAE is an integral part of the Sales team, collaborating with the account team to build strong relationships and to secure design-wins by understanding Micron's broad portfolio and the value brought by Micron's innovation, services and expertise. 


The role of an Automotive FAE Manager involves:

  • Lead and coordinate a Field Application Engineering team that builds relationships and influences key decision makers at customers. Enable development of differentiated solutions and products based on the technology challenges driving customer’s business objectives.
  • Working closely with the Sales Account team to develop and execute a strategic plan & objectives
  • Regularly visiting customer project teams to identify new business, discuss on-going projects including areas of concern & future needs
  • Assisting in troubleshooting and providing test support as needed; be the central point of contact during escalations between customer and factory teams, working with cross functional groups until issue resolution has been delivered to the customer
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the customer by providing memory architecture advice, memory product recommendations, delivering technical trainings and developing solutions.  Possible solutions may be executed independently and/or evolve into a collaboration with other internal cross-functional teams based on the scope
  • Work with internal marketing and development teams to determine the feasibility of specific new products or features and ensure customer specifications are met.
  • Coordinate lab-related activities that support the design-in/validation process, including schematic/board layout reviews, design validation and system level testing
  • Communicate customer focused collaterals (e.g., product guides, cross references, datasheets, system compatibility guides, etc.)
    A successful Automotive FAE Manager will help manage the customer from a technical perspective but will also keep the business aspect in mind.  The FAE team is the voice of the customer and an evangelist for new design related activity. They should continually look for ways to self-develop, learning new technology and ways to better support Micron and our customer.
