UCC Audio/Visual Field Engineer

As a UCC Field Engineer at Micron Technology, you will support the growing UCC environments for a Micron Technology on a global level. This environment is a 40,000+ size global user base. You will support cloud and on-premise voice, video, chat, instant messaging and conferencing. This includes, but is not limited to, the following ecosystem technologies – Skype for Business (SfB), Skype Mobile, Avaya, and Polycom video conferencing infrastructure. You will also meet with Micron’s Business Units to ensure solutions meet or exceed business requirements.


Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Oversee, provide support to, and manage relationships with audio visual vendors, integrators, and partners.
  • Support the installation, configuration, commissioning, and training of audio/visual integration projects.
  • Develop, document, and maintain audio visual reference architecture, keeping up to date with industry standards.
  • Provide L3 troubleshooting support to Micron and contractor audio visual support staff as needed and on a global level.
  • Conduct trainings and distribute training information to area training leads, end users, and support staff.
  • Evaluate potential products and stay up to date on product offerings.
  • Keep current on industry standards and best practices.
  • Obtain and maintain various industry certifications.
  • Attend manufacturer and industry trainings as needed.
  • Define, architect (design), and implement enterprise communication and meeting solutions covering email, voice, video, chat, and teleconferencing 
  • Define, in conjunction with users and service providers, the quality standards required to support business collaboration
  • Actively participate in developing operational models, processes, and procedures
  • Install, configure, upgrade, support, and maintain on premise Skype and Polycom environments as well as overall conferencing room environments.
  • Create system documentation, testing, training, and post-deployment/upgrade assessments including regular system health checks for conference room technology. 
  • Enable and support the use of mobility for voice, video and sharing of content
  • Educate employees regarding functionality of event venues, production processes and webcast support.
  • Meet and consult with project managers, site managers, technical staff, event coordinators, or executive assistants, to discuss, plan and ultimately ensure the AV requirements for their meetings and events has met their requirements.
  • Supervise the installation and set-up for installed AV equipment such as; microphones, audio speakers, video displays and projectors, video cameras, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound amplifiers and video encoder/transcoder appliance
  • Technical liaison and main onsite support staff for all AV and event production 
  • Manage and update support tickets, reporting, and metrics.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology or related discipline (Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math) and 5+ years related work experience with operating system hardware and/or software and components with an emphasis in Audio/Visual technology.
  • Be proficient in Office 365 / Office 2016, Bluebeam, Visio 2016, and AutoCAD experience a plus but not required.
  • Advanced IT knowledge (OSI model, TCP/IP settings, LAN/WAN Technologies), and AV specific IT knowledge (Dante, AVB, NVX, NDI, H.264, H.323, etc.).
  • Expert knowledge of audio/visual systems and videoconferencing technology.
  • Advanced knowledge of video streaming technologies (RTMP, HLS, DASH, multicast, etc.)
  • Proficient knowledge around video routers, video switchers, and digital audio boards
  • Proficient knowledge in AV signal flow and connection type
  • Experience with AV solutions such as digital signage, IPTV, and/or Planar video walls
  • Solid understanding of architectural drawings, electrical & telecommunications drawings and related materials.
  • Excellent project prioritization and management techniques.
  • Experience as a project engineer/manager, preferably with a large, corporate entity or commercial institution.
  • Excellent communication, writing, presentation, and training skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must have proficiency and industry knowledge in technology and audio-visual systems.
  • Excellent critical thinking and troubleshooting skills, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Superior Judgment and Decision Making; the ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and solutions in order make the most appropriate choice.
  • Must have experience in leading, understanding, troubleshooting, and executing live event productions with live webcasting and video conferencing
  • Preferred certification: CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I
