Sr. Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC) Engineer - Skype/Teams/Zoom

As a highly motivated and forward-thinking Senior UCC Engineer at Micron Technology, you will lead design and management of the UCC environments for Micron Technology on a global level. This environment is a 40,000+ size global user base. You will also evaluate, design, configure, and implement hardware and software components for cloud and on-premise voice, video, chat, instant messaging, and conferencing. This includes, but is not limited to, the following ecosystem technologies – Skype for Business (SfB), Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Avaya, Polycom video conferencing infrastructure.


You will work with global team members to help create and maintain technical roadmaps and assist in project forecasting. Additionally, you will lead research and development efforts pertaining to development of new features and capabilities within the global UCC ecosystem. Business requirements drive the technology roadmaps; therefore, you will engage with Micron’s business units to ensure solutions meet or exceed business requirements.


Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Define, architect (design), and implement enterprise communication and meeting solutions covering email, voice, video, chat, and teleconferencing
  • Create and implement the strategy for transitioning legacy PBX voice to modern enterprise voice platforms such as Microsoft Teams voice with Direct Routing and Cloud Calling
  • Define, in conjunction with users and service providers, the quality standards required to support business collaboration
  • Actively participate in developing operational models, processes, and procedures; documenting and training on the developed models
  • Document and implement system setup and standardization of features and usage
  • Install, configure, upgrade, support, and maintain on premise Skype for Business (legacy on premises), Polycom, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom
  • Craft system documentation, testing, training, and post-deployment/upgrade assessments including regular system health checks for Skype, including the mobile platform
  • Lead and mentor L2/L3 support teams with skills and knowledge to address operational support needs
  • Enable and support the use of mobility for voice, video and sharing of content
  • Participate in and lead problem management as the subject matter expert for UCC technologies.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology or related discipline (Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math) and 10+ years related work experience with operating system hardware and/or software and components
  • You have deep knowledge of Microsoft Skype for Business, Skype for Business Mobile, Infrastructure, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Clients
  • You have knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 tenancy administration within the scope of UCC technologies
  • You have experience implementing Office 365 and Exchange On-Line integrations with other UCC technologies
  • You have deployed Microsoft Skype for Business, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom on virtual clients, wireless environments, mobile, and remote environments
  • You have deep knowledge of High-Availability computing and networking (load balancing, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, QoS)
  • You learn quickly and have experience using PowerShell, and/or other scripting tools
  • You have in-depth technical expertise in messaging, video, voice, web conferencing (e.g. Skype, Vidyo, Blue Jeans, Teams, Zoom), and IP telephony technologies
  • You have a solid grasp of UCC Communications Protocols (SIP, RTP, WebRTC, H.264, and H.323) and understand the impact of QoS in the UCC ecosystem
