Intern- Mobile Systems Architecture Modeling

As an intern in the Mobile Systems Architecture group at Micron, you will be working on modeling and analyzing system level performance and power impact of Micron LPDRAM and NAND, providing insights to product teams, helping them define and architect industry leading memory and storage products. You will be working on developing system level performance and power models of Micron LPDRAM and NAND products along with other system level IPs like CPU, GPU, NPU, video codecs and other hardware accelerators necessary to project user experience on Android based mobile systems.


We are a small team of enthusiastic engineers that work collaboratively within the team as well as outside. We brainstorm on ideas, provide feedback regularly and learn from each other. We also collaborate with teams in Boise, India, China and Japan. This group will provide you an opportunity to learn while working on projects that have direct impact on defining Micron mobile products.


In a typical day of work, you will be defining performance metrics to measure user experience for different Android mobile use cases like camera usage in various modes, video recording, gaming etc., developing performance and power models in C++, analyzing memory trace data, writing python scripts and plotting graphs to visualize performance and power metrics.


Responsibilities and Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Performance and power modeling of Micron LPDRAM and NAND products
  • Memory trace data analysis, power and performance debugging
  • System level modeling for quantifying user experience in Android mobile systems
  • Broad knowledge and experience in computer architecture, main memory subsystems, operating systems
  • Above average skills in C++ and python programming
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on a team
  • Experience in data analysis and visualization


Qualifications and Skills include, but not limited to:

  • BS, MS or Ph.D candidate in Electrical, Computer Engineering and/or related field
  • Deep knowledge of computer systems architecture, main memory subsystem and operating systems (Preferred)
  • Strong experience in C++, Python (Required)
  • Solid background in performance modeling and data analysis (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with architecture modeling infrastructures like gem5 (Preferred)
  • Passion for making mobile computing system more efficient
