As we grow our Managed NAND business in both Mobile and Automotive, we have an increasing focus on the efficiency and consistency of our development practices across our development teams. As a Director of Product Development for Managed NAND at Micron Technology, you will be responsible for leading all product development team leaders (PDTLs) for both development and sustaining. You will be responsible for leading these product management functions across multiple geographies to achieve high reach goals and objectives while ensuring consistent process and methodology. You will assure accurate design and tracking of programs to predict results and outcomes critical to success. In this role, you will be accountable for program schedules and trade-off decision making across multiple programs that may compete for similar resources across firmware and validation.  You will also provide process methodology and define metrics applicable to your product development teams.  This is a key role in advancing our overall business with wide-ranging impact across our organization and company.

               

Responsibilities and Tasks of you and your team

 

Manage Program Teams and provide direction to key stakeholders

 

  • Identify Stakeholders for the various programs and manage expectations
  • Collect and document stakeholder requirements
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts
  • Direct investigation of technical issues and drive to closure
  • Communicate program expectations to team members and stakeholders
  • Maintain program support through interaction with senior leaders

 

Oversee Program Governance

 

  • Develop program scope definition and approval
  • Set metrics and targets
  • Manage program definition and approval

 

Initiate and Plan Programs

 

  • Define scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals
  • Define the alignment of programs to BU strategic objectives
  • Plan and schedule program timelines and milestones using appropriate tools
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel

 

Execute, Monitor/Control and Close Programs

 

  • Identify and manage program dependencies
  • Track program milestones and deliverables
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations
  • Manage changes in program scope
  • Identify potential crises, and develop and execute resolution plans
  • Facilitate programs to sustaining mode or closeout programs

 

Manage and Develop the Team

 

  • Coach and provide career development
  • Identify strengths and create specific development plans to improve cross-functional skills
  • Establish goals and conduct performance appraisals
  • Provide recognition and drive accountability
  • Develop project management skills within the team

 

Education Required

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or related technical field

 

Experience Required

 

  • At least 5 years of experience in a cross functional development position within a storage system or sub-system Design, Firmware, Validation, and qualification.
  • Director or senior management experience of leading a distributed team
  • Experience of working in a sophisticated technology company
  • Experience of the storage industry, in Mobile, Auto, SSD, or a related technology
  • Understanding of storage interfaces including ideally SATA, SAS, UFS, eMMC
  • Experience with advanced NAND flash and other non-volatile storage
  • In-depth experience of software and firmware development methodologies

                                 

Qualifications

 

  • Strong understanding of NAND based system storage development, including Firmware and Validation
  • Excellent organization, communication, and leadership skills        
  • Ability to work independently in a very fast-paced environment and adapt to daily changes           
  • The drive to investigate root-cause and provide corrective action for system inefficiencies             
  • Attention to detail, organizational skill and the ability to balance multiple projects            
  • Excellent communication and ability to work in a cross-cultural global team environment
  • Flexibility to handle short-notice needs/requests
