Director, Employee and Executive Communications

The role of Director, Employee and Executive Communications will serve as the leader of Micron’s team member, executive and leader communications team, reporting to the Global Head of Corporate Marketing and Corporate Communications. This role will develop a world-class team that helps inspire and inform our team members around the world with the right information, at the right time, helping drive Micron culture and meaningful connection to our business.


The Director, Employee and Executive Communications is responsible for leading the assessment, creation, and implementation of internal company-wide communication strategy to drive employee engagement in alignment with Micron’s vision, mission, and values. Partnering directly with the Executive Team, HR and other corporate functions as well as the broader Global Communications and Marketing team, this role will develop, integrate and implement programs and tactics across a wide variety of communications channels such as Micron’s intranet portal, MicronNow; internal all-employee meetings and events (both virtual and in-person) and digital communications that reach and engage employees globally.


This role will also oversee the development of a robust executive, leader and organization communications practice, providing a vital channel for clear and timely team member communication from senior leaders. This role will act as a trusted advisor to the executive team, helping them see and understand employee sentiment and driving Micron culture across our 34,000 team members around the world.


Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Leadership and development of the Employee and Executive Communications team including resource management, hiring, mentorship, and performance management.
  • Develop a comprehensive internal communication strategy that drives employee engagement and meaningful connection to the company’s strategy.
  • Develop a robust executive, leader and organization communication practice that support senior-level executives and leaders throughout the company, helping them to engage with employees and share timely, relevant business information.
  • Manage and execute regular cadence of monthly, quarterly and annual company communication by CEO to team members and leaders, including all-employee meetings, town halls, and regular email communications.
  • Manage editorial cadence of internal program communications, providing updates on key programs such as HR, IT, Global Quality, Diversity and Inclusion and Sustainability, among others, to team members and external audiences, where appropriate.
  • Lead planning and execution of annual Global Team Member Meeting, an annual kickoff event with global scale and reach.
  • Support global corporate communications events where appropriate.
  • Support organizational announcements and strategy rollouts to employees.
  • Create plans, track timelines and manage team budget.
  • Monitor and manage relevant topics and trends (both in the market and within the company) that could impact our employees, our culture, or our company’s mission.
  • Use existing internal channels such as intranet (MicronNow), email, events, and collaboration tools such as Teams to communicate with both office/wired and manufacturing/non-wired employees in ways that advance the company’s mission, culture, and brand. Recommend new channels and programs as appropriate.
  • Develop proven methodologies and procedures to guide consistent and quality communications across all teams, divisions and regions.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of internal communication programs and develop recommendations to continually improve the quality and effectiveness of employee communications.
  • Provide general guidance to teams on the most effective ways to reach and influence employees.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Relations, English, Communications or related discipline. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • 12+ years professional experience in high profile corporate communications, employee communications and / or public relations roles supporting globally branded organizations.
  • 5+ years of experience creating and leading employee and executive communications programs at Fortune 500 companies. Experience with semiconductor industry would be a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience building, developing and leading teams through change.
  • Management skills include high-profile communications, strategy planning, budgeting and creative solutions with experience in developing proactive, creative communications and extensive communications strategies.
  • Demonstrated and extensive experience writing and editing for print, multi-media formats and digital social formats.
  • Demonstrated expertise and acumen when communicating to and working with senior executives to provide strategic counsel, clearly articulate ideas, successfully manage differing points of view and build positive relationships and rapport.
  • Technically savvy: Experience using technology that supports building, planning, and executing communications, including Unily for intranet, Microsoft SharePoint and Teams.
  • Collaborative and a team builder, with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Detailed: You’d never dream of letting a communication go out without every word checked and every sentence polished.
  • Outstanding writing, editing and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness using data to communicate and inform decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple timelines at once.
