Applications Engineer, Emerging Memory Solutions

We are looking for an Applications Engineer to work with us on Micron’s cutting edge 3DXP-based products and emerging memory solutions. We are looking for someone that is well versed in Storage and Memory component functionality, debug & performance analysis in systems. They will also have experience with gathering customer facing requirements and working with engineering teams to showcase performance of Micron’s emerging memory products. Responsibilities also include understanding & support of customer environments, qualification requirements & triage of reported issues. The best person for this position will be skilled in bridging engineering and customer facing teams with a deep understanding of the product technology. They will help articulate product features and performance with clear data and documentation - including, datasheets, design guides, trouble-shooting guides, solution briefs, white papers, presentations & demonstrations of our products and solutions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with the engineering & other internal teams to:
  • Develop expertise on product specs, features and performance analysis
  • Develop performance benchmarking, analysis tools and automated runs.
  • Debug performance bottlenecks, root cause issues, file defects, follow up on resolution.
  • Work with opensource tools like FIO , IOMeter, Diskspd to characterize device performance and establish KPI matrices for next gen memory and storage products.
  • Hands-on experience in product performance/feature comparisons
  • Craft datasheets, design guides, trouble-shooting guides, evaluation guides, application notes, technical white papers, presentations, videos and demonstrations for our solutions and products
  • Support product launch activities and assist with Tradeshows, Conferences. Engage with marketing teams and customers to ensure successful showcase of product features and value with major opportunities and deployments
  • Customer facing interface including providing technical support to customers and the field sales force. Support includes applications advice, product recommendations, device testing.
  • Customer issue resolution, including firmware and hardware debug, technical problem resolution, quality issue resolution & training

Minimum qualifications:

  • B.S. (+5 years) or a M.S. (+3 years) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
  • 3-5+ of experience in memory/storage (HDD and/or SSD) product design/engineering, product, test, system validation, or application engineering.
  • Systems experience, including: Datacenter architecture, systems design, test and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in Semiconductor industry, as a Product Engineer, Validation or System Validation, QRE, High Volume Test, component testing and/or device characterization
  • Storage knowledge of Storage controllers with high speed IO interfaces such as PCIe, NVMe, DDR and ONFI.
  • Experience in NAND, persistent memory and/or Flash Memory NOR Architecture is plus
  • Exposure to DIMM, NVDIMM or DRAM testing and characterization.
  • Experience in Installing and configuring Software Operating Systems including Microsoft Windows and various Linux distributions + updating associated drivers
  • Experience with hardware/software setup & debugging
  • Knowledge of System performance monitors, scripting & automation
  • Exposure to datacenter applications & system performance debug
  • Able to work with server hardware to trouble-shoot hardware/software issues related to Memory, Storage, NVMe that may include BIOS, FW and driver changes. Familiar with usage of various debugger, fault isolation & telemetry tools
  • Strong communication skills along with ability to build technical training materials and customer facing collateral
  • Experience in a direct customer support role of storage product is a plus
  • Comfortable working in a multi-functional team
