MSB Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

As an Assembly Manufacturing Engineer at MSB, you will be responsible for executing area resource plans in terms of logistics and indirect piece parts and managing, developing employee performance.

In this role some of the tasks that need to carried out include exploring continuous improvements activities to assist area management in running the production in a cost efficient and effective manner.

You will need to forecast unplanned or ad-hoc staffing and training needs, monitor area performance and provide performance feedback, mentoring, and career development where appropriate.

Other responsibilities include ensuring a safe work environment by performing regular work area inspections and conducting timely event investigations. You will be working with various engineering

and manufacturing groups throughout the company.   


Responsibilities and Tasks

Execute Area logistics and indirect pieceparts to support production Plans

·  Forecast production logistics and indirect peiceparts to ensure production readiness to meet changing and new demands

·  Review current resource inventory levels is sufficient to meet fluctuations in supply requirements

·  Review priorities and constraints with capacity planning prior to device start-ups

·  Identify current inventory levels

Execute Continuous Improvements to Reduce Cost and Simplify Work Procedures

·  Review bottleneck areas, constraints on existing and new processess or work procedures with support groups

·  Participate with Assy OWD on documentation pertaining to OJT development and simplifying work procedures

·  Participate in projects and assignments with direction coming from management

·  Track performance indices such as quality deviations, cycle time and productivity

Assist in area production plans

·  Participate in area layout activities with industrial engineering, equipment and capacity planning groups

·  Forecast ad-hoc staffing and training needs to handle out-of-control situations or new requirement

·  Plan recovery actions to overcome and make arrangements to fill identified gaps

·  Monitor Hot Lots to process to ensure timely execution and notify management

·  Determine and request machine conversions based on time, technician availability, proximity, and future need

·  Support in implementing plans to meet production goals and communicate plans to appropriate support groups

·  Cover the duties of the line supervisor or manager in their absence as and when required

Manage and Develop Employee Performance (if applicable)

·  Monitor performance of employees and provide performance feedback, mentoring, and career development through regular one-on-one meetings

·  Review appropriate job profile with each employee to clarify supervisor and department expectations

·  Gather data and determine level of employee effectiveness by comparing performance with expectations

·  Provide feedback/ counselling in an organized and respectful manner

·  Develop corrective action plans, as needed, with clear expectations and goals to eliminate recurrence (e.g. retraining, job analysis) and set a timeline for improvement

·  Maintain employee files that are organized and current including hard copies of signed documentation and attendance records

·  Compare current knowledge, skills, abilities, and other attributes with career goals to provide developmental and/or directional feedback

·  Observe team member work and consistently enforce procedures and work rules

·  Review TRAIN profiles or TRAIN reports to ensure team members are properly trained

Ensure a Safe Work Environment

·  Perform work area inspections to identify, anticipate and promptly correct hazards

·  Conduct timely event investigations using root cause analysis techniques

·  Conduct BBS observations to improve the safety awareness and the educate the right safety habits or behavior

·  Encourage hazard identification and safe work practices by giving periodic workplace safety talks




Bachelors Degree



·  Good written and verbal communication skills (English)

·  Strong leadership skills and analytical skills

·  Able to handle multiple priorities/task efficiently

·  Good team player

·  Good listening skills and motivational skills

·  Good level of computer literacy  

·  Open to working shift and overtime

·  Basic programming skills
