As a Program Engineer within the Procurement department at Micron Technology, you will be responsible for working with the leadership team to spearhead projects from communication to change management. The Program Engineer will provide direction and mentorship and handle programs consisting of multiple complex projects to achieve specific business goals and objectives while ensuring balance in allocation of resources. Accurate design and tracking of projects to predict results and outcomes is critical to success. Analysis of program progress in terms of root cause analysis, pay-back assessment, risk, resources consumption, interdependencies and gaps are typical responsibilities associated with Program/Project Management. The Procurement Program Engineer, will and can be a Project Lead on specific projects that are associated to the Program.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Govern, Craft, and Manage Programs and Projects

  • You will work on alignment of program metrics with related programs inside the organization, as well as with those of relevant organizations
  • Develop key indicators and goals to support program and Area of Focus
  • Provide accountability for overall execution the program and keep Program Sponsor informed of program status
  • Hold project managers accountable for the definition, execution, and reporting of assigned projects within program
  • Ensure Program has clear definition and objectives stated
  • Develop Program scope definition and obtain sponsor approval

Execute, Monitor/Control, and Close Programs

  • Ensure that project managers and project sponsors use available systems and guidelines to control and track projects
  • Provide the Capital Leadership team and other partners with updates on the progress and status of assigned program
  • Work with project teams to ensure the project status is accurate and up to date

Maintain Program Health

  • Develop and Lead bi-annual Program workshops
  • Help the project teams uncover and document potential risks and issues
  • Identify program project resource constraints and work with Program sponsors and partners for resolution
  • Bring together and facilitate “next steps” for off-cycle projects
  • You will actively be involved in making changes to projects and the practices to validate and close out current projects
  • Communicate program expectations to team members and partners

Improve Program Management Business Processes and Tools

  • Define and evolve methods for data entry including appropriate approvals from functional area managers, project owners, activity owners, and program partners
  • Evaluate the state of the organization and adjust methods to continuously grow and advance the maturity of the organization’s Program Management culture
  • Develop and evolve reporting requirements and solutions that meet the needs of the project and also the project audience in a manner that clearly communicate critical aspects of the project
  • Improve methods and evolve how performance will be calculated and tracked for active open projects.

Champion and Train Program Management Business Processes

  • Align and communicate terminology to be used across projects and programs
  • Ensure alignment of program/project management business processes
  • Coach, mentor, motivate, manage, and provide recognition to program team members
  • Maintain program support through interaction with senior leaders
  • Promote Program Management value and business practices to the organization

Lead or Assist with Project Management

  • Serve as a Project Manager or individual contributor for organizational initiatives
  • Contribute through business systems, business process, and market intelligence expertise
  • Initiate and plan projects
  • Execute, monitor, and close projects
  • Coordinate project teams
  • Communicate project status to partners
  • Represent Procurement for company initiatives and merger / acquisition activity

Provide Business and Data Analysis Support

  • Research and analyze data
  • Create and lead Procurement data and reporting environment
  • Develop and manage organizational processes and information systems
  • Provide industry intelligence to support Procurement

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

  • Business Administration/Management
  • Computer Science/Information Systems
  • Engineering – Industrial, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical
  • Finance or Accounting
  • Production and Operations Management (POM)
  • Project Management
  • Related field of study

Experience Required

4+ years experience in any of the following:

  • Equipment/Process Engineering
  • Procurement, Planning or Supply Chain
  • Semiconductor Business
  • Prefer > 2 years project or program management experience
