Job Description

As a GQ (Global Quality) Package Reliability Technician in the DRAM/Emerging Memory Quality and Reliability Assurance team (DEMQRA) at Micron Technology Inc., you will be responsible for package quality and reliability for one of Micron’s product lines. This responsibility includes coordinating package qualification efforts for new products and when new designs, materials, or processes are introduced; and providing recommendations on product release based on package reliability test results. You will also be expected to devise reliability test plans to assess risk associated with excursions, conversions, and reliability and qualification issues. You will coordinate root cause and corrective action efforts within the GQ department for package related qualification failures and RMAs (failures from customers), and prepare reports for discussion with stakeholders. Additional duties include providing support to internal and external customers for package-related quality and reliability issues, and customer requests.

 

Responsibilities and Tasks
Perform Destructive/Non-Destructive Failure Analysis  and  Characterization
   -Consult with engineering to determine FA approach
   -Use appropriate destructive or non-destructive FA to identify root cause for Return Material Authorization (RMA), Reliability Process Monitor (RPM), qualification fails
   -Perform Characterization to support package qualification
   -Perform screening to support manufacturing production
Report FA Results
   -Update appropriate database libraries
   -Communicate results
Maintain Equipment
   -Coordinate calibrations (external to Micron)
   -Repair equipment and perform preventative maintenance
   -Upgrade software
   -Procure parts as needed
   -Coordinate host vendors to support equipment repair
Develop Methodologies
   -Communicate with Engineering teams to understand FA or Characterization needs
   -Create recipes or programs for specified parts
   -Document and maintain procedures
Manage Lab Operations
   -Monitor inventory levels
   -Order supplies
   -Coordinate HazMat disposal
   -Coordinate facility support
Develop and Maintain Vendor Relationships Regarding Equipment
   -Initiate and host vendor visits
   -Co-Develop new applications with vendors
   -Evaluate new equipment and provide feedback
   -Solicit quotes for new equipment
Provide Technical Expertise
   -Conduct training/certification and provide technical support
   -Advise interdepartmental (Micron Global) Engineering groups
   -Develop new equipment coding for new package
Assist Engineering in Managing Qualifications (Product Technician)
   -Provide Engineering support as per requested
   -Coordinate FA
   -Locate and expedite product for qualification
   -Maintain relationships with interdepartmental Engineering groups

Education

Required

 

Diploma or equivalent experience

 Engineering - Electronics

   

 

 Engineering – Electrical

 

 Engineering - Mechanical

 

 Related field of study

     

 

Experience

Required

 

3+ years experience in any of the following:

 Micro Electronic Packaging, Quality/Reliability Engineering, Failure Analysis

 
   

 

 

 Thorough knowledge of semiconductor component package assembly processes and challenges

 Knowledge of surface mount processes and challenges

 Understanding of mechanical and material interaction effects on reliability of IC components and/or Printed Circuit Assemblies (PCB) assemblies

 

 Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and detail oriented

 Strong analytical problem-solving skills, excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to interact easily with other groups

 Good written and verbal communication skills in English and computer skills are necessary

 Working knowledge of the software systems employed in backend manufacturing
