Manager, SIG Quality

As the SIG Quality Manager, you will create and maintain the quality culture, direction, and pace for the Systems Integration team. You will be the quality figurehead and will work to balance solid quality practices within other functions to ensure SIG equipment is designed, developed, and manufactured with efficient and consistent methods. This role requires a wide range of quality knowledge and practical application. You will work closely with senior leaders, external partners, and cross functionally, requiring both a strategic and tactical / hands-on approach to guide / develop quality initiatives. This role encompasses internal SIG quality spanning Boise and Asia operations, and quality with suppliers and dedicated contract manufacturers, so a high degree of communication is essential for transparency, clarity and aligned execution.


Responsibilities and Tasks

Organizational Leadership

  • Provide Organizational Leadership with a Quality mindset – establish and implement the Functional Processes, and Policy for the quality department.
  • Establish and monitor department performance metrics to deliver on strategic solutions.
  • Coordinate quality efforts with SIG Senior Leadership Team and act as the SIG management representative with Global Quality alignment and strategic objectives.


Overall Quality Assurance

  • Manage functional area service delivery – design, development, qualification, and supplier performance support
  • Manage Quality Standards - ESD, Change Control, Dev Mgt, and others.
  • Manage compliance to Global Quality Standards, SIG Standards, and product compliance
  • EHS Support - Ensure a Safe, and Ethical Work Environment
  • Managing audits for SIG (internal and audits by external parties); serve as the SIG Management representative of ISO qualification and needs.
  • Accountable for Quality programs and projects - Champion programs for deviation reduction, scrap, CM / Supplier programs, and more.
  • Update appropriate SIG teams on ongoing quality improvements, issues, challenges, milestones
  • Define, monitor and report to SIG management team on Quality performance metrics


Manage Resources

  • Define requirements for team members, facilities, tools, and materials.
  • Identify, evaluate, and structure quality solutions to improve efficiencies, reduce costs, solve problems, and achieve results in a pattern of continual improvement.


Manage Workforce

  • Identify and define quality role requirements, with the necessary knowledge and skills for each role.
  • Establish team member expectations and provide tools and training to enable individual success in their roles and responsibilities.
  • Guide, follow-up, and coach team members to achieve goals and optimize performance.
  • Identify team member development opportunities as well as potential candidates for promotion.
  • Assess current workforce and forecast future needs.


Production Quality and Outputs

  • Verify / validate processes and activities in the design, development, manufacture, and support services to ensure quality assurance to the product and its intended end customers.
  • Identify, define and act to provide standardized quality practices and respond to quality deviations that impact SIG’s ability to meet demands and achieve overall goals.


Communication and Customer Satisfaction

  • Maintain regular and transparent communications appropriate to SIG leadership, the overall team, and external stakeholders.
  • Leverage various communication mediums to create awareness, seek feedback, gather data, and propose recommendations.


Manage SIG Contract Manufacturer (CM) Quality performance

  • Monitor and evaluate Quality Health (QBR) with CMs - Yields, change control, non-conforming materials, and more.


Manage SIG Supplier quality performance

  • Monitor and evaluate Quality Health (QBR) with CMs - Yields, change control, non-conforming materials, and more.
  • Build and manage high performing teams; a people leader with both direct and indirect reports.
    • Oversee career development and planning.
    • Lead the supplier quality engineers, and the documentation teams.
    • Create goals and development plans and monitor activities and overall performance.
    • Recognize, motivate, and enable teams to grow and advance SIG initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities to direct lessons learned and pushing a quality mindset throughout SIG.
    • Collect feedback and enhance communications through data analysis, recommendations, and cross functional collaboration.
    • Work with process management efforts to reduce inefficiencies and improve effectiveness


Adhere to and Promote Safety and applicable EHS priorities

  • Encourage and enforce safe, compliant behavior through periodic communications and the performance management process.



  • Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering or Business
  • Previous Leadership Experience Required
  • Certified Quality Manager, or Certified Quality Auditor
  • Experience in Program and Project Management would be added advantage.



Successful candidates for this position will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years quality experience with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of quality management systems (QMS) and ISO requirements
  • Practical understanding of quality tools/techniques (i.e. 8D, FMEA, ESD, Calibration, product quality)
  • Strong communication, organization and presentation skills
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to collaborate with customers and across functional groups
  • Self-motivated and able to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Strong data analysis, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Proven ability to set, measure and achieve short and long range goals
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office package
  • General understanding of CM (contract manufacturing) business is preferred
  • Knowledge of PCA manufacturing (SMT and T/H), systems assembly and test processes is desirable
