Senior Manager, Automotive Segment Marketing

Segment Marketing is a highly strategic role in the Embedded Business Unit (EBU) at Micron. EBU is a fast-growing Business Unit passionate about serving automotive customers. In this role, you will orchestrate developing automotive specific business and go to market strategies in line with Business Unit objectives, manage automotive roadmap & develop automotive application specific positioning and value proposition to enable sales and BD teams in driving the business. You will also be responsible for leading the creation and report out of Micron’s automotive strategic plan, establish Micron’s market model including SAM and TAM, in addition to supporting the quarterly review, rationalization and report out of Micron’s long range plan.


The automotive application segment includes a focus on key applications including ADAS / AD, In Vehicle Experience, Driver Monitoring Systems, Dashboard, Gateways, Telematics, Powertrain, and other sub-segments. Key activities include: analysis of the market, technology trends, ecosystem and competitive landscape to provide key insight that influences decisions. Ensure alignment of segment strategies and product strategies in line with EBU business objectives; Triangulate information from different sources and build cases for validating or invalidating current marketing strategies and business cases; Craft business/technical outbound collateral that help our FAE’s and sales teams to outsell the competition.


Minimum Qualifications

  • You have a deep understanding and knowledge of the automotive market from market dynamics, customers (OEMs, Tier 1s), business and technology trends in focus applications
  • You would have held a prior position in either marketing, system architecture or systems/applications engineering role serving this market segment
  • Proven ability to develop sophisticated technical and business strategies and can solve technical/business problems with limited direction
  • Proficient in complex data analysis in order to drive market model, assessment of business opportunities, and rationalization of revenue plans based on top down vs. bottoms up analyses
  • Consistent track record of working in a matrixed organization and ability to effectively influence multiple levels of sales, field and business unit marketing organization


For this position, you will have:

  • A positive demeanor, strong collaboration skills, customer presence, strong communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to analyze marketing data and understand macro and micro industry trends and drive decisions based on this analysis
  • Understand technical/architectural requirements, with the ability to conduct a first level of application and system architecture specific dialog with customers
  • Experience developing effective presentations, and collateral intended for both internal and external audiences
  • Ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects simultaneously
  • You possess a BS degree in Electronics or Computer Engineering with minimum 10 years’ experience in one of the following roles: Business Development Manager, Technical Sales, Technical Marketing Engineer, Systems/Applications Engineer, Market Research Engineer, or related occupation -


Preferred Skills / background:

  • Strong data analytics skills and experience – very comfortable with large amounts of number crunching
  • Prior knowledge of memory sub-systems (DRAM technologies and NOR/NAND flash memories)
  • A good network of contacts in the industry with OEMs, Tier 1s, chipset vendors, software vendors, industry analysts
