IT Software Engineer

As an IT Software Engineer team member at Micron Technology, Inc. and within the Information Technology Team (IT) you are responsible to own and drive teams to our direct customer base – Semiconductor backend High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) Sites. You will collaborate with global teams to deploy aligned solutions. You will be responsible for manufacturing tool automation and data systems on the factory floors at the backend sites including solutions and processes. The team member is also accountable to the business processes, systems, support, and sustainment as it pertains to our manufacturing sites within Semiconductor backend. This includes 24x7 support for these systems at sites. 

Your objective is to develop efficient, reliable and aligned manufacturing solutions at the sites using metrics to drive continuous improvement. You are responsible to communicate with the manufacturing sites, keeping them aware of unplanned and scheduled activities within your support.   



  • Involve in the application lifecycle management for software systems in a highly automated semiconductor manufacturing environment
  • Work with relevant stakeholder to conduct user requirement analysis and collaborate with global IT team to implement and deliver IT solutions for Manufacturing operation
  • Plan and coordinate user training and acceptance testing/verification for new software to ensure a good quality software release to production
  • Perform applications software and hardware maintenance to ensure high uptime
  • Monitor system performance proactively to identify abnormalities and develop capabilities to prevent unscheduled downtime


For a more detail Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, maintain and support applications for Automated Material Handling System (AMHS), Backend Automation, Backend Data Collection and Process Control Systems on world-wide basis. This software consists of internal Micron applications and third-party vendor applications.
  • Collaborate on worldwide framework for automation development, and provide software used to stage product and enforce business rule.
  • Work directly with internal customers and third-party vendors to define business rules and implement them in the site.
  • Work closely with customers to understand their needs and make suggestions to resolve production and process issues.
  • Train customers to use the applications, tools, and utilities required to sustain all software related to the above IT services.
  • Troubleshoot applications that do not perform as expected on a real-time basis.
  • Provide technical support and input to internal customers or third-party software providers as needed for problem identification and resolution.
  • Design, implement, enhance, fix, document and test changes in accordance business rule requirements to ensure smooth release of changes to production.
  • Track and report indices to monitor systems performance and highlight abnormalities or make recommendations to improve situation.
  • Participate and work with other teams to integrate business rules between systems.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, developers and infrastructure groups across all sites.
  • Communicate timely status to the customers, team and managers.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and execute escalation processes as required.



  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Development of applications to support manufacturing processes, equipment maintenance, and engineering analysis              
  • Database development and design with MS-SQL     
  • Windows programming in C#, Visual C++, MS Visual Studio, Visual Basic, Java        
  • Linux/Unix programming with C, C++             
  • Scripting in Perl, Python, or shell      
  • Markup languages: XML, HTML5        
  • Understanding of middleware and messaging concepts        
  • Machine Communication: GPIB, SECS/GEM, serial communications 
  • Source code management best practices
  • Creative and have passion in implementing innovative IT solutions to solve challenging business problems.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills. Willing to work in a dynamic team environment to achieve a common goal through effective collaboration and commitment.
  • Required to provide 24/7 standby operation support
  • Required to work in a clean room environment as needed
  • Some travel will be required
  • Applicant who demonstrated good software project management skill and had exposure to agile development methodology will be advantageous
  • The ability to work in several areas of software development as part of a team or independently     
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently          
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills  
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
