Segment Marketing is a highly strategic role in the Embedded Business Unit (EBU) at Micron. EBU is a high growth BU focused on serving customers that cut across various IoT Segments, like Industrial IoT (Smart Cities, Smart Grids, Factory & Building Automation, M2M and Healthcare), Connected Auto, Connected Home, etc. 


In this role, you will spearhead developing Industrial specific go to market strategies for the EBU, including focus on the IoT edge, A&D and associated Federal business. You will work with the right set of industry influencers/decision makers (like service providers, solution providers, OEMs, Tier1 subsystem suppliers, etc.), standards and consortiums bodies as relevant, to build and validate an end-to-end strategy to drive growth of EBU’s Industrial Segment business.


Internally you will work with system architects and other marketing teams to align internal product roadmap to deliver on that strategy, and drive external market development to enable that strategy. You will also provide direction, market analysis and strategy on use of Micron’s emerging technology solutions in various emerging applications in your focus vertical. In this role, you will also represent Micron at various industry events and provide thought leadership.


Knowledge and Skills:

  • In-depth understanding and knowledge of the industrial ecosystem including customers, sub-applications and markets, equipment design and technology trends with a special focus on emerging IoT edge intelligence . This includes the physical edge devices going into Smart infrastructure (like smart cities, smart transportation, etc.) and the intelligent edge (IoT gateways, Edge appliances etc.).
  • Ideal candidate will have a good understanding of where industrial IoT projects have strong ROI and growth momentum, where artificial intelligence and big data analytics is moving from the cloud to the edge, and the type of workloads and systems will be needed for such deployments.
  • Highly desired experience in Aerospace and Defense market segments, and related opportunities in public and federal sectors.    
  • Ideal candidate would have held prior position in marketing or systems/applications engineering role with OEMs or semiconductor vendors serving this market segment.   
  • Proven ability to develop complex technical and business strategies and have the ability to solve technical/business problems with limited direction. Ability to develop and execute new Go To Market strategies to develop business in new application segments/channels
  • Proven track record of working in a matrixed organization and ability to effectively influence multiple levels of sales, field and business unit marketing organization.
  • International business/customer engagement experience and/or experience with far-east ODMs is a great plus. 
  • Having a good network of contacts in embedded/IoT business, A&D/Federal business, with industry analysts, embedded OEMs and within the semiconductor industry is a plus.
  • Prior knowledge of memory sub-systems (DRAM, NOR/NAND flash, SSDs) is a great plus.


Successful candidates for this position will have:

  • Good customer presence, presentation skills and communication skills
  • Ability to analyze marketing data and understand macro and micro industry trends
  • Ability to understand technical/architectural requirements, be able to have a first level of application and system specific dialog with customers
  • Ability to develop effective presentations, internal and external collaterals
  • Detail-oriented personality, with the ability to track multiple application progress over time
  • Ability and willingness to travel, sometimes internationally, up to 20 percent of the time.




BS degree with minimum 12 years of experience, or MBA with minimum of 10 years of experience in related industry job in Marketing or Business Development, Technical Sales or Systems Engineering
