Job Description 

We are changing the way Micron thinks about IT solution delivery to enable business value and looking for an experienced Director to manage and support Design Compute Infrastructure, and infrastructure as service to our design sites.  We have started a major revamp of our Design Computing environment aimed to create three highly automated Regional Data Centers serving Micron designers around the world.  We want someone with a demonstrated deep technical understanding of Design Infrastructure and the ability to drive large projects in different geographies.  Candidates must have a good understanding of Data Center Automation, High Performance Computing (HPC), network latency, and SSD based storage solutions.  You should be able to come up with highly innovative solutions and be obsessive about the engineering user experience. You will be working in a fast-paced, iterative environment with the stability of working for a global, established and competitive technology company. Your primary responsibilities will be to grow, develop and lead teams developing Engineering Infrastructure IT capabilities. Candidates work with business stakeholders to help define solution strategies, provide thought leadership on emerging technologies and create best of breed solution experiences that will set the standards for future collaboration.  



  • Define, execute, and manage the solution strategy for Micron’s Design Engineering Compute Environment 

  • Manage a team of ~130 Micron employees and contractors spread across 3 continents and 19 sites.   

  • Drive a large Data Center consolidation project 

  • Optimize infrastructure environment at all sites 

  • Server 

  • Storage 

  • Network 

  • Backups 

  • PC/Workstations/mobile 

  • Workplace IT/Video Conferencing 

  • Collaborate with the IT I&O department to develop roadmaps for the above services and enhance them through time 

  • Execute and enhance on a WW ‘follow-the-sun’ support approach across our design and business sites 

  • Drive toward standardization of infrastructure environments across our sites 

  • Support test and product development lab infrastructure at these sites 

  • Partner with peers in other Solution Delivery Areas, Information Security, Analytics, and worldwide site teams, across Technologies to develop, drive, and execute product roadmaps

  • Own and lead HR processes such as employee engagement, performance reviews, talent development, etc.  

  • Manage end-to-end portfolio delivery in terms of schedule, cost, scope and quality 

  • Proactively anticipate risks and issues that may arise during the delivery of the portfolio plan and ensure that appropriate mitigation actions are undertaken  

  • Actively engage in resourcing processes to ensure organizational agility 



  • A strong technical leader with 10+ years in collaboration technology solutions experience 

  • A BS or MS degree in computer science, computer engineering or other technical discipline, or equivalent work experience  

  • Passion, energy, personal accountability and a desire to lead others to excellence  

  • Proven track record of building high performance, self-managing teams  

  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic vision and execution against a strategic plan  

  • Capable of leading technology change with excellent strategic and technical thought leadership  

  • Proven ability to recruit top talent with technical skills alongside design sensibility and emotional intelligence  

  • Track record in driving strategic change in resourcing, tools and process 

  • Proven ability to build and lead engineering teams at scale across multiple geographies  

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong decision-making, prioritization, and negotiation  

  • Experience in agile methodologies and how to instill an agile mindset a plus
