As the Director of Strategic Marketing, you will report to the Vice President of Marketing for the Compute and Networking Business Unit (CNBU). Our CNBU Strategic Marketing team leads three key disciplines and associated activities for Micron’s Compute and Networking Business Unit. 

 

  • Generates market intelligence, identifies opportunities and enables solutions
  • Develops and leverages key ecosystem partnerships
  • Communicates the value proposition of CNBU internally and externally

 

As the leader of this team, you must demonstrate excellent business, strategy, and communications skills.  He or She will be responsible for working with executives to summarize business results, determine targets, and identify & validate market trends. The team will work collaboratively with CNBU market segment, pricing and product-management teams, other Business Units as appropriate, Corporate Strategy and Business Development, and Executive Staff. The Strategic Marketing team also takes the lead in interfacing with key ecosystem partners to develop mutually beneficial business and strategic relationships. Operating at the center of the CNBU Marketing team, the leader must have extraordinary communication skills.

 

The Director of Strategic Marketing has the following responsibilities within CNBU:

 

Ecosystem Enablement
Driving engagements with key ecosystem partners responsible for most of the revenue created through end customers. This includes major Client & Server platform provides as well as IP companies and ASIC developers. With China becoming a significant player in our industry, a special focus is directed at the local ecosystem.

 

Market Intelligence
Providing market research based on external inputs and extensive market modelling reflecting the major products and target markets for CNBU. Provide updates on news relevant for CNBU, highlighting the potential business impact and ideally recommend actions leveraging the changing environment.  

 

Communication
Focused on communicating the value CNBU brings to the market. Providing thought leadership throughout the relevant industries and applications. Positioning CNBU as Trusted Advisor and preferred memory consultant to our customers, partners and other ecosystem players. Next to target account based marketing the Director Strategic Marketing is expected to accelerate the Social Media presence for CNBU.  Works seamlessly with corporate communications teams.

 

People Management
Demonstrate strong people leadership skills and ability to create an environment that demonstrates Micron’s Values (People, Innovation, Tenacity, Collaboration, and Customer Focus). Able to effectively coach managers and be transparent for all TMs in the organization this position supports while maintaining a cohesive teamwork environment.

 

Skills

  • Intimate understanding of the DRAM market and the target applications within the Cloud, Enterprise, Graphics, Networking and Client segments
  • Excellent communication skills – for internal, external, and executive audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and innovatively
  • Professional judgment, discretion, and critical thinking that comes from considerable experience in the field
  • Analytical skills to forecast and identify trends and challenges
  • Familiarity with the latest trends & technologies
  • Experience managing a global team of direct reports
  • Strong Leadership/People manager skills

 

This function requires

 

  • BS or MS degree preferred in engineering, computer science or similar subject
  • 10 years of work experience in the semiconductor industry
  • Leadership experience
