SR\Quality Management Office (QMO) Auditor

As a SR Quality Management Office (QMO) Auditor at Micron Technology you will be responsible for preparing, supporting, and conducting internal process audits, as well as hosting or supporting external quality audits (customer and certification).  You will work with Micron departments and leaders to develop schedules, review documents and procedures, gather and evaluate information related to quality, and summarize and report findings.


Other duties include contributing to the maintenance of the Micron Quality System, to interpret and become a subject-matter expert in ISO and IATF requirements, to participate in improvement projects, and other supporting activities to resolve non-conformances.   You will be expected to maintain a working knowledge of quality systems, methods, and processes to support in audits and help Micron be more effective and efficient, while still maintaining compliance to external QMS requirements.


As a QMO Auditor, you will have opportunities to utilize your strong inspection/auditing skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization in order to solve problems and implement sustainable solutions.

You will be responsible for:

Plan Audit, Objectives, and Schedule

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the Internal Audit Schedule (System, Process, and Product Audits), the Customer Audit, and Certification Audit schedule.
  • Gather information from production, service, development, and supporting activities and perform assessments to identify risk areas to be focused on during the audits.
  • Analyze department quality systems and previous audit information from multiple sources.
  • Lead Auditor: assist with audit team selection and audit plan preparation for internal audits.
  • Represent the audit team with management of the audited area, with customers and certification body.
    Conduct Quality Audits
  • Perform internal quality audits (System, Process, Product Audits and special audits as required by the organization) and identify value-added non-conformity, strengths, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead or support special audits required by management upon need/request.
  • Analyze findings and summarize them for presentation or report with the final objective to enable the organization to improve processes.
  • Facilitate the Closing Meeting to review and interpret results with management.
  • Follow up on audits to ensure that solutions/actions are implemented to fulfill the requirements and avoid recurrence.
  • Assist, when needed, for determination of action plan to solve non-conformities.
    Host external Audits
  • Coordinate the audit schedule with the QMO team and affected areas.
  • Help in preparation, including the line tour and coaching sessions, when needed.
  • Participate in the audit on-site.
  • Facilitate the Closing Meeting to review and interpret results with management.
  • Support post-audit follow-up as needed.
  • Ensure the follow-up on audits to enable solutions/actions that once implemented fulfill the requirements and avoid recurrence.
  • Analyze findings and summarize them for presentation or report with the final objective to enable the organization to improve processes.
  • Assist, when needed, for determination of action plan to solve non-conformities.
  • Participate as the auditee for the "Manage Quality Audit" process.
    Support Improvement of the Quality Management System through assessment and sharing of best practices and participating in quality improvement projects.
    Maintain personal knowledge and awareness of required auditor skills and competencies.  

You will have the following expertise:

  • Prior experience in internal, customer, and/or certification audits.
  • Understanding or experience using ISO9001 and IATF 16949 certification rules.
  • Excellent organizational and management skills, and outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with all levels within the organization.
  • Experience and ability to collaborate within the team and with cross-functional teams to understand needs and translate them into actionable plans, deliverables, and resource requirements.
  • Flexibility and ability to work under tight timeframes and prioritize competing activities
  • Good multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to complete assignments on time with minimum supervision.
  • Understanding of how to find and assess applicable customer-specific requirements.
  • Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes and product requirements

Education and Experience

  • 3 years of experience in auditing, QMS, QA, or QC in the manufacturing industry, preferably semiconductors
  • BS in Engineering, Business and/or related field, (desired MS in Quality Management)
  • Solid background in Quality Management Systems and the process approach for auditing, including risk-based thinking.
  • Strong experience in (Required) ISO 9001, IATF 16949 (Certified Lead Auditor desired), Core Tools (FMEA, SPC, APQP, PPAP, MSA, 8D)
  • Knowledge of VDA 6.3, ASPICE
  • Passion for teamwork, continual improvement, and lots of change.
  • Fluent in English
  • Domestic and International travel required as needed, up to 25%.
