As an CVD Process Technician Intern at Micron Technology, Inc. in Manassas, VA (MTV), you will have sustaining ownership of high tech processes in a manufacturing environment. Typical duties include ensuring quality and efficiency metrics remain within limits, sustaining quality by executing control plans, documenting deviant material and processes as needed as well as supporting other areas of the operation to reach the organizations goals. You will work with various engineering areas to resolve defect related issues and work with support groups to drive improvement. In this role you will respond to issues that distract from the operation of the fab. This includes containment, documentation and communication of events.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
Demonstrate Process Knowledge
- An understanding of how current process is affected by previous processing, and how current processing may affect subsequent processing and their impact to device performance.
- Identify and react appropriately to manufacturing efficiency losses related to managing SPC, GERM holds.
- Follow and improve reaction mechanisms and procedures for process control for OOS and OOC conditions.
- Build knowledge to analyze metrology, RDA, inline, to understand process issues and reaches appropriate conclusion based on data.
- Analyze common failures and report data to internal customers.
- Demonstrate software knowledge for data extraction, system parameters, and tool component manipulation.
- Demonstrate an understanding of equipment and process interactions.
- Identify process issues related to equipment performance to minimize excursions by taking appropriate actions.
- Use systematic approach to identify root cause and resolve “Long term down”, (LTD) equipment. Compiling data, observations, and analysis to be used in creating action plans, improving best known methods, and sharing results with the team.
- Demonstrate an understanding of multiple metrology measurements (CD, OCD, Overlay, Thickness, GOF, WIS, Scatterometry, etc.)
- Reviews and disposition product targets and tool or process qual data.
- Recognize and react to repetitive deviations and notify engineering where escalation is neede.
- Monitor and investigate area holds to determine cause of deviation.
- Demonstrate general knowledge of TPM components; may provide input to continuous improvement projects.
- Feeds back potential updates and enhancements to control points and reaction mechanisms to the appropriate personnel (production, engineering, etc.)
- Respond to DTS and review of SWR data per SWR instructions.
- Identify deviations from accepted practices in systems, tools, and processes.
- Writes QDRs for test wafers and product lots with engineering assistance.
- Assists in the investigation for the cause of product QDRs.
Production Throughput and Availability
- Manage and resolve germ holds using post maintenance qualifications (PMQ) requirements when required in support of chamber/tool release plan compliance (PLOT).
- Assist in OOC reduction and reaction optimization efforts by driving to cause and stopping deviated processes.
- Provides a bird eyes view of his or her area.
- Utilizes area key metrics to drive efficiencies.
- Understand the production line management and WS constraints.
Test Wafer Management
- Monitors and maintains test wafer inventory.
- Focuses on other process area test wafer requests and needs.
- Address test wafer related issues and escalates concerns as needed.
- Prioritizes test wafer lots if recycle tools go down.
Quality Management and Monitoring
- Maintain compliance to department metrics and identify the sources of recurrent issues.
- Demonstrate knowledge of data analysis tools and techniques.
Communication
- Understand area technical language.
- Keep Supervisor informed on top priorities.
- Document issues in updates and emails that are well written, accurate, and timely.
- Provide timely updates on critical items and top priorities to the appropriate stakeholders following appropriate escalation procedure.
Coach, Mentor, and Train
- Ensure you maintain required certification.
- Ensure that you are certified to do the work you are assigned.
Resource Planning, Time and Project Management
- Organize workload based on priority needs for the fab.
Self-Development
- Accept responsibility for personal mistakes, seeks clarification for future improvement.
- Regularly meet with supervisor to set expectations and review accountability for area level goals.
Comply with Standards for Safety, Environment, Health, Security, and Business Continuity
- Communicate any problems or concerns to the appropriate individual immediately. Ensure proper notification for any event, including “near miss” occurrences.
- Promote a positive culture for safety and environmental programs at MTV by adhering to the safety expectations for your team and by holding other team members accountable.
- Ensure a healthy and safe work environment for all team members by identifying risks to our local environment and escalating in the proper fashion to ensure that they are minimized.
- Ensure all safety and environmental compliance-related work tasks are being completed in accordance to existing requirements (LOTO, audits, training, Job Hazard Analysis, use of proper PPE, evacuation procedures).
