As a Water/Waste Water Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible to provide high quality engineering services for planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of site Facilities systems in support of semiconductor manufacturing. You will conduct capacity and scenario planning and evaluate impact of changes. In this role, you will work within Facilities Teams and with Manufacturing through all phases of design, construction, installation, start-up, operations and maintenance and will ensure environmental, safety, regulatory, and code compliance.

 

This new position will be at Micron’s Northern Virginia facility in Manassas, where Micron will invest $3 billion dollars to expand production.  As part of the expansion, Micron will establish a global research and development center in Manassas for memory and storage solutions primarily focused on the automotive, industrial and networking markets.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

Design and Plan Systems and Buildings:

  • Provide system designs for safe operations and maintenance
  • Develop and review equipment and component specifications
  • Ensure material compatibility
  • Recommend critical spare parts
  • Ensure designs comply with all applicable standards, codes, and regulations
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of capacity planning databases (with Base Build capacities, POC assignments, and actual field conditions)
  • Track system capacity relative to current measured loads and forecasted loads
  • Prepare periodic system status presentations (system capacity, actual load, and projected loads based on all approved scenarios, key system accomplishments, and challenges/issues)
  • Support manufacturing scenario planning according to standard process
  • Evaluate system and distribution capacity impacts based on scenario changes
  • Provide scope for facilities infrastructure additions or modifications
  • Evaluate Space Planning for future equipment

Provide Project Support:

  • Provide detailed designs and specifications for the installation of new facilities infrastructure
  • Provide support for cost and schedule estimates and justification for approval
  • Provide supervision and coordination of consultant resources
  • Ensure appropriate communication with facilities and manufacturing stakeholders
  • Be responsible for the review of design packages
  • Execute designs according to standard processes
  • Prepare Project Scope and ensure necessary input from appropriate stakeholders
  • Ensure that scope meets requestor needs
  • Follow change management procedures
  • Monitor progress and provide engineering and design support during construction
  • Work with appropriate personnel to address problems or make corrections
  • Perform system inspections per applicable code requirements and sign off on inspection report
  • Support equipment startup and commissioning
  • Ensure drawings are updated with completed project information according to as-built procedure

Provide Technical Support, Leadership, and Expertise:

  • Provide consultation and support to Operations and Maintenance and Manufacturing
  • Analyze systems to identify improvements that will result in better performance, efficiency gains, reduced maintenance, and cost savings
  • Perform problem analysis using standard tools and methodologies
  • Conduct risk and failure mode and effects analysis
  • Eliminate single points of failure and mitigate risk
  • Work with Manufacturing on excursion root cause identification, elimination, and prevention
  • Create or modify Standard Utility Details (SUDs)
  • Attend design review meetings and participate in table reviews for all First-of-a-Kind (FOAK) tool designs
  • Act as site representative to support corporate requests and assignments
  • Benchmark with other Micron sites on operational, procedural, engineering, and design BKM of Facilities buildings and systems
  • Support other sites and projects with personnel, consultation, documentation, etc. as needed
  • Review and participate in the development and maintenance of Corporate Facility of Record (FOR) Standards
  • Maintain applicable domain knowledge (chemical theory, instrumentation control theory, high purity principles, etc.)
  • Maintain equipment support knowledge (reaction modes/mechanisms, hazard protocol, leak detection, etc.)

Education Required:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

  • Engineering – Chemical/ Mechanical

Experience Required:

4 years’ experience in any of the following: Engineering or Semiconductor industry
