This position will be at Micron’s Northern Virginia facility in Manassas, where Micron will invest $3 billion dollars to expand production. As part of the expansion, Micron will establish a global research and development center in Manassas for memory and storage solutions primarily focused on the automotive, industrial and networking markets.

 

As a Dry Etch Equipment Owner at Micron Technology in Manassas, Virginia, you will maintain the Dry Etch process by supporting manufacturing and increasing equipment up time, responding to production issues, implementing solutions, reducing costs, and improving yields. In this position, you will support existing processes, identify process and material improvements, and develop intellectual property. You will also use statistical process controls and data analysis to support and supervise the performance of Dry Etch tools. Your other responsibilities include identifying and resolving defect issues, auditing recipes, assisting area technicians with routine maintenance, improving preventative maintenance procedures, and communicating procedural changes to engineers and production personnel. All work will be done in accordance with Micron’s core values.

 

You will work with other engineering areas to resolve various integration and defect related issues, lead actions outside areas of direct responsibility as the need arises to resolve broader issues, lead interaction with vendor groups to drive support, improvement and demonstration activities, and develop process and procedural improvements, as well as provide detailed documentation and training to shift personnel as required. You will also find opportunities for productivity enhancements and equipment optimization to improve product quality and reduce system cost of ownership. Prefer semiconductor industry experiences and hands on experiences with TEL / AMAT / LAM tools.

The selected candidate:

  • Must be detail oriented and data driven in order to track equipment performance, develop pareto analysis of tool issues and lead vendor support through documented continuous improvement project (CIP) commitments.
  • You possess sound methodology for coordinating work, setting priorities and building a work plan.
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • You have tight-knit collaboration skills to help encourage good partnership among colleagues and vendor counterparts.
  • You have sound solving problems skills and proficiency to work on equipment related issues.
  • You are safety conscious, conform to all Micron safety policies, and able to identify potential hazards prior to working on a piece of equipment.
  • Significant hands-on experience with cleanroom equipment, which includes familiarity with lithography equipment operation, processing regimes, and related metrology
  • You are willing to take full ownership and responsibility of a workstation, and seek to be the global benchmark.
  • You have deep understanding of the facilities systems which support the tools, including hazardous production material (HPM), gas valve manifold boxes (VMBs), pumps and scrubbers, etc.
  • You will lead efforts to reduce costs in the area, and will need to demonstrate initiative, innovation and perseverance in setting up a cost reduction strategy through vendor or second-source CIP activities, redesigns, procedure modifications, etc.
  • Must meet engineer eligibility through relevant education and/or equivalent experience.

The preferred candidate will have:

  • In-depth knowledge of semiconductor equipment.
  • Understanding of semiconductor-specific safety procedures.
  • Previous semiconductor fabrication engineering experience, particularly on 300mm toolsets.
  • The ability to work in a cleanroom or an electro-static discharge (ESD) sensitive environment

Education

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Material Science is preferred; however, other engineering related fields
  • Equivalent experience may be considered.
