Micron has a large R&D group in Longmont with focus on NAND Flash and SSD Product Development. Longmont is a key development center within Micron for the development of enterprise and cloud data center SSD’s. Micron is now increasing its investment in Longmont as it grows its enterprise SSD product portfolio. Micron continues to rely on building off the substantial enterprise storage expertise available in the Longmont area.

 

We are looking for a Validation Lead Engineer to join our growing Enterprise SSD Validation Engineering team. The Validation team works as an integral part of our enterprise SSD validation process, ensuring our products are on time to market and resilient in the field. You will partner cross-functionally and cross-site with R&D, Quality, Facilities, Production, and other engineering groups to lead validation efforts, collaborate in developing validation strategies, and execute validation deliverables.

 

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of all facets of the SSD Validation
  • Manage interactions between engineering development teams and validation to ensure that any and all issues are worked to a rapid and satisfactory solution
  • Set up and manage a ‘Core Validation Team’ for product specific validations
  • Partner with various internal engineering teams as well as the Micron SSD Business team throughout the Product Life Cycle to improve the cycle time and customer quality of Micron’s Enterprise SSD products
  • Develop and design test plans to evaluate drive functionality
  • Continually improve SSD validation tests
  • Evaluate existing test plans against OEM specifications, RMAs, and customer feedback to improve test coverage and efficiency
  • Work with Applications/Marketing to stay up-to-date on OEM system requirements and test software
  • Ability to configure and run validation systems
  • Continually enhance, develop, and execute procedures to test the performance of SSD drives
  • Enhance, develop, and execute test scripts on host systems to uncover drive hardware and firmware issues with SSD’s

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • 5+ years in SSD/HDD design, development or validation
  • Experience working at enterprise data storage system or SSD related companies
  • Detail oriented, analytical, process savvy, and customer focused yet flexible and adaptable to business needs
  • Experience working in and leading cross-functional teams
  • High level of teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced changing business environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
