Software Automation Engineer (Linux)

As a member of the Micron Validation Architecture DevOps Team, you will have a crucial role in enabling the success of the Micron SSD Organization to deliver high quality products! Our team provides modern development infrastructure and automation tools to engineering teams throughout Micron SSD. The teams we empower work on sophisticated firmware, software and test frameworks which facilitate the delivery of world class SSDs to our customers!

 

We are seeking an individual contributor with expert knowledge of Linux OS, Automation and DevOps.

We deliver a Linux-based host platform for SSD firmware development and test that rests on an IT-supported infrastructure. Our solutions drive multiple critical teams at multiple Micron sites around the world. The key objectives of our platform are extensibility, reproducibility, maintainability, and re-usability.

 

In this role you will have the opportunity to participate in custom software development; specifically, architectural decisions about design and implementation of our global platform as well as the deployment and support of Linux-based tools and environment that empower the Micron SSD organization. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and deliver solutions that meet their needs.

 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Problem solving, debugging
  • Maintenance of backend servers and systems
  • Maintenance of custom Linux OS image(s)
  • Responding to Jira tickets
  • Linux configuration
  • Python (and other) coding
  • Communication written/verbal
  • Being adaptable, flexible and balancing multiple complex technical tasks

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 - 8 years experience with Linux DevOps
  • 3 - 5 years experience with Automation Solutions
  • Software design, development and testing experience (esp Python, Groovy REST API interaction
  • Linux distros particularly Red Hat & CentOS
  • Linux Kernel builds, customization and optimization
  • Linux shell scripting
  • C/C++ and building source code using Make and other tools
  • Linux drivers, kernel modules
  • Linux UDEV, USB and PCIe
  • Linux services
  • Linux window managers and X - Gnome, XFCE, KDE, etc
  • GDB and other debuggers
  • Core dump analysis and debug
  • Yum and RPMS including yum server side and caching mirrors
  • PCIe and NVMe protocols, drivers and hardware
  • NFS, Samba, AutoFS, SSSD, LDAP, VNC, SSH

 

Preferred Skills:

  • PIP and PYPI and Python packaging (highly desired)
  • PXE/iPXE/Clonezilla
  • Ansible/YAML (highly desired)
  • Atlassian tools (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence)
  • Storage tech (NVMe/PCIe and SATA)
  • Product Validation
  • Distributed systems
  • PostgreSQL
  • VMs, VM hosts and containers

 

Education:

Candidates should hold a Bachelor (or higher) degree or have equivalent industry experience.
