The QLC Systems Solutions team is a group of world-class storage architecture, signal processing, and ECC experts responsible for maintaining Micron’s technology leadership in QLC based products. The team develops system solutions to enable premier QLC NAND products across a spectrum of storage industries including Enterprise OEM, Cloud storage, Mobile products, and Client SSDs. Additionally, we work with experts in other industries, such as Compute and Storage Class Memory, to invent new product definitions. We work with customers & look forward in time to anticipate the features that will be required in future storage systems and then design the lowest cost, highest performing product possible. Each engineer is an authority in their own field, but has a system perspective, with understanding of how to create the best overall product definition. Everyone is valued for their ability to technically innovate, make a meaningful impact, and collaborate across functional boundaries.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Characterize and model the behavior of QLC NAND signals and noise as a function of temperature, retention time, read disturbs, and cycle history.
  • Invent new methods for characterizing and modeling NAND signals and noise
  • Popularize the new models and use them to improve system design including threshold tracking, ECC, and margin budgeting
  • Design, evaluate, and integrate new controller features for improving system performance and or reliability
  • Work with manufacturing and work towards gather NAND statistics both during production and in the field.
  • Develop new hardware assist features for rapidly optimizing read thresholds
  • Patent at least 2 new inventions each year
  • Successfully integrate features into products
  • Lead less experienced engineers in the assessment and development of new designs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Authority in signal processing and statistical modeling of stochastic processes
  • Expert in concepts of signal processing such as the LMS algorithm
  • Experience integrating characterization tools into
  • Experience leading the integration of LDPC into a product that shipped in volume
  • Expert in communication theory
  • Knowledgeable in the field of SSDs and in NAND memory
  • Clear communicator and excellent multi-functional collaborator
  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering desired
