Telecommunications UCC Engineer

ROLE:

 

The Telecommunications UCC Engineer provides voice engineering, with a focus on voice/real-time communications. Provides project support as well as operations support required for Avaya PBX and Cisco data functions related to telecommunications that includes, but is not limited to day-to-day O&M escalation support, system upgrades/enhancements, as well as ongoing projects and day-to-day moves, adds, changes (MACs) working closely with the Senior UCC Engineers.

 

The environment is a 40,000+ size global user base.  In addition to this role you will be responsible for configuring and implementing hardware and software components for cloud and on-premise audio/visual, voice, video, chat, IM and conference room technology solutions.  This will include, but is not limited to, the following ecosystem technologies – Microsoft's Skype for Business (SfB), Skype Mobile and Polycom video conferencing infrastructure.

 

 

 

RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Supports telecommunication voice operations
  • Support enterprise Voice infrastructure in an Avaya environment - Dial plans, PBX, gateways, Avaya communications manager, Avaya Session Manager
  • Collaborate with Micron business units and stakeholders to analyze and translates business requirements into engineering, design, and technical specifications to support telecommunications infrastructure
  • Provides technical guidance regarding technology and proposed upgrades to equipment and conducts technical feasibility studies
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues within the voice and Telecom environment
  • Participate in the ongoing support and maintenance of existing voice infrastructure.
  • Telephony system programming on various systems – i.e. PBX, Voice Mail
  • Vendor Management

 

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE: 

  • 8+ years of experience with voice systems and telecommunication networks
  • Expert level hands-on experience with Avaya Platform - Communication Manager, Application Enablement Services, Session Manager, Avaya Call Management, One X Communicator
  • Expert level experience with maintaining and troubleshooting Avaya CM version 6 or later
  • Strong experience working with SIP (Trunking, Protocols, and methods)
  • Demonstrated experience bridging multiple SIP and H.323 systems together via session border control
  • Working knowledge of IP networking and QOS as it applies to voice and voice applications
  • Demonstrated experience with local and long-distance carrier circuits, configuration and routing, including management of toll-free and DiD numbers
  • Phone Configuration, Tracing call routes
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritize complex, changing workloads in a challenging technical environment.
  • Capacity to quickly absorb new concepts and technologies and apply that knowledge to current efforts and plans.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and capacity for creative thinking.
