 Job Overview:

 A Sr. Data Center Engineer manages the Data Center from end to end, are responsible for designing, setting up, and managing information/network/server systems at data centers. He/she is responsible for all aspects of IT infrastructure including: Planning, organizing, implementing and monitoring the Data Center Operations, weather on prem or cloud. Maintenance and support services for all hardware and software and its supporting infrastructure, overseeing the technical infrastructure as it relates to servers, storage and affiliate infrastructure(s) that provide service capability to the business. This position is accountable for the strategic and tactical management of systems, servers and enterprise applications.

 Responsibility and duties:

  • Monitor, diagnose, and resolve complex network and computer system issues
  • Manage and administer servers, networks, and applications such as DNS, FTP, and Web
  • Maintain internal network structure of a data center by managing routers and keeping them up and running
  • Install, configure, and maintain switches, servers, firewalls, and hard drives
  • Troubleshoot network systems to identify and fix performance issues
  • Provide solutions to complex problems on the integration of various technologies
  • Design plans as well as lead initiatives for the optimization and restructuring of network architecture
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of network administration and firmware integration
  • Monitor the environmental conditions of a data center to ensure they are optimum for servers, routers, and other devices
  • Perform system repairs and update software/operating systems
  • Calibrate and monitor data center servers to ensure efficient performance
  • Collaborate with IT handlers, sales, and data center managers to develop action plan for improved operations
  • Conduct inspections on power and cooling systems to ensure they are operational and efficient
  • Organize the floor space that harbor data center equipment to allow for easy accessibility
  • Resolve operational, infrastructure or hardware incidents in a data center.
  • Partners with IT teams in the development, implementation, and management of IT's controls, policies, procedures, practices, and processes to protect the organization's IT assets and the integrity, security, and privacy of information entrusted to or maintained by the organization and to ensure compliance and consistency
  • Leads the end-to-end systems infrastructure design, capacity planning and performance management to meet systems requirements while finding opportunities for automation, cost savings, and service quality improvement
  • Advise emerging technologies that should be integrated and/or introduced to ensure IT capabilities respond to the needs of the business strategy
  • Support of IT systems that align with the achievement of business goals.
  • Oversee operational and service management processes to ensure quality, security, efficiency, and agility goals are achieved.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Information technology
  • 10 years' minimum experience in Infrastructure Technology inclusive of small to medium Data Center Management [a min of 150 racks]
  • Knowledge on hardware and virtualization technologies like Cisco UCS, HPE ProLiant, DELL PowerEdge, VMWare and Citrix
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills; attention to details
