Job Description:

The IT Disaster Recovery (DR) Analyst plays an integral part in the coordination, development, monitoring and implementation of emergency preparation, contingency plans, and disaster recovery plans.   The IT DR Analyst is responsible to work with organization leadership or their designees to provide response, recovery, and tactical plans to resume business operations following a business interruption or disaster. The IT DR Analyst will analyze company-wide initiatives and contingency plans to ensure the stability of critical business functions and enterprise systems and to minimize loss and financial risk.

 

Core IT Disaster Recovery Analyst Activities:

  • Develop and implement disaster recovery ownership, standards, policies, and guidelines
  • Works with line management to design, train, and test system recovery plans
  • Ensure and monitor compliance with industry and government rules and regulations
  • Lead activities to ensure security compliance that meet all contractual requirements
  • Incorporate disaster recovery preparedness into the established enterprise business continuity program
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert, interfacing with internal and external audit teams on all regulatory compliance audits, related processes and testing efforts
  • Conduct technical research as needed to aid with system recovery planning activities
  • Perform additional disaster recovery activities as needed

 

Business Communication Activities:

  • Understand the trade-offs required to manage the different levels of risk tolerance and risk exposure across the organization
  • Create and manage a disaster recovery awareness program to ensure team members across the enterprise understand the principles of disaster recovery and business continuity
  • Understand the “voice of the customer” and develop mechanisms for adoption and usage patterns of current or emerging consumer technologies to ensure alignment
  • Coordinate with technology and business groups to assess, implement and monitor IT-related security risks and hazards
  • Liaise with other internal departments and local agencies to ensure business continuity
  • Advises business-led technology projects on IT disaster recovery awareness and standards compliance, where applicable

  • General business process knowledge and acumen
  • Ability to define and communicate risk, contingency, disaster recovery, and business continuity in business-relevant language
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to react to high pressure dynamic changing environments
  • Ability to train disaster recovery concepts to non-technical people
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • ABCP, CBCP, DRCS, DRCP, EDRP preferred
  • Preferred skills in SharePoint and reporting services
  • In depth knowledge of IT disaster recovery practices
  • Experience in strategy definition or program management preferred
  • Strong knowledge of information technology
  • Experience in disaster recovery, business continuity, and risk assessment
  • Knowledge of national and international regulatory compliances and frameworks such as ISO, SOX, EU DPD, HIPAA, PCI DSS and NIST Cyber Security Framework

 

Education (Required)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or Related field of study

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        

Experience (Required)

3-5 years of experience in any of the following:

  • Analyzing and applying information security, risk management, and privacy practices or policies                                                                                                   
  • Strategy definition or program management preferred
  • IT Business liaison role
  • Risk Analytics experience within finance and/or IT  
  • Threat, vulnerability, business continuity, and risk assessment        
  • National and international regulatory compliances and frameworks such as ISO, SOX, EU DPD, HIPAA, PCI DSS and NIST Cyber Security Framework
