Business Analyst - Inventory Management

As a Business Analyst within the Inventory Management team, your primary objective is to analyze business requirements and evaluate reporting opportunities to help improve inventory management within Micron. You will be liaising closely with various business stakeholders across multiple departments to understand their respective requirements and work with dedicated Data Engineers and Data Architects, as well as IT personnel to help implement these requirements.

In this role, you are expected to work closely with data at its most granular form, to identify existing patterns and unearth process gaps. Such data-crunching activities will constitute the majority of the team’s efforts towards building a more transparent and responsive Scalable Inventory Management System (SIMS).

As a key member of the Inventory Management team, you are expected to:

  • Analyze business problems and recommend solutions
  • Provide an informational perspective to business process improvement
  • Apply standard problem-solving methods to identify process gaps
  • Identify appropriate data sources for various use cases
  • Determine whether to own or consume data from other sources
  • Identify resources, contacts, and process owners to gather and report relevant data
  • Collaborate/partner with business units/work groups to interpret, aggregate, and display data
  • Be the main point of contact for identifying reporting needs to satisfy various Business Intelligence requirements
  • Investigate inventory-related data across multiple enterprise systems
  • Utilize a diverse set of data to help build and pilot Proof of Concept (POC) projects to optimize inventory
  • Help develop and implement automated audits across the dimensions of data quality, including completeness, validity, relevancy, integrity, consistency, timeliness, efficiency, and accuracy
  • Use your analytics expertise to assess various inventory tracking reports and their respective KPIs
  • Analyze the impact of inventory rule changes on enterprise inventory goals
  • Help the team to establish data quality requirements to enable and maintain an effective executive oversight for inventory management throughout Micron
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal organizations to have a deep understanding of their current and future requirements pertaining to their strategic inventory goals
  • Establish causality on data quality issues by investigating symptoms, physical causes, and root causes
  • Document current process models and participate in workshops with stakeholder groups to design or improve business processes
  • Assist with training needs for new processes

Education

  • Required
    • A Master’s Degree in Supply Chain or
    • A Master’s degree or equivalent in a Numerical or data intensive subject with relevant experience such as
      • Computer Science
      • Engineering
      • Business Analysis
      • Production and Operations Management
  • Desired
    • Business Intelligence Professional Certification is highly desirable 
    • Prior Data modelling experience is a major plus factor

Experience

  • Required
    • 3-5 years of experience of Inventory Analysis, Data Analysis or a related Supply Chain function
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Solid communication and presentation skills
    • Data-driven and process orientated
    • Strong emotional intelligence and relationship building ability
    • Familiarity with SQL and ability to work with Relational Databases
    • Solid experience of working in multi-functional teams and large-scale projects encompassing multiple enterprise applications/systems
    • Highly organized and able to remain flexible to the changing business needs
  • Desired
    • Prior exposure to implementing Digital Supply Chain Transformation programs, including Supply Chain Automation
    • Prior Data modelling experience is a major plus factor
    • Working knowledge of enterprise applications/architecture including SAP, Teamcenter, Salesforce
    • Prior exposure to various data visualization techniques
