Micron’s Taiwan sites include sales and technical support in Taipei along with state-of-the-art fabrication facilities in Taichung and Taoyuan that together comprise the company’s DRAM Center of Perfection. The Center’s goal is to achieve the most efficient and effective technology transfer and manufacturing ramp by combining front- and back-end manufacturing, product engineering and technology development roles.

 

Description 

As the Senior Director of Taiwan Technology Center (TTC), a Technology Development organization based in Taiwan, you will be responsible for leading Micron’s DRAM New Product Introduction and early module integration development in a high-volume manufacturing environment, as well as overseeing a Process Development support team for DRAM and NAND process development projects.  In this role, you will lead an organization consisting of Process Development, and Process Integration including CMOS and access device engineering teams to drive DRAM integration solutions for key technology gaps to enable Micron’s next generation DRAM Technology development. 

 

As leader of the overall TTC organization, you will be responsible for hiring and developing the TTC organization to build a “Technology Development Mindset”.  You will collaborate closely with other DRAM Development site leaders to align on development strategies, deliverables and provide on-site support to drive various technology development projects.  In this role, you will also partner closely with Micron’s Manufacturing and Central teams to apply best in class methods to develop for manufacturability.   During Technology Transfer phase, you will also supervise the manufacturing team transfer team from early engagement training through the manufacturing start criteria milestone.   

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Hire process development engineers and process integration leaders and engineers
  • Actively manage training, coaching & performance appraisals for managers & engineers in the team   
  • Align with within the Technology Development teams in the US and Japan, and manufacturing teams from various sites to drive the direction for technology development support and generate transfer plans, as well as collaborate closely with the TTC process engineering and manufacturing leaders to align on the evaluation and execution plans. 
  • Provide feasibility studies for development projects and support plans
  • Propose goals and map out key metrics and glide paths to enable achievement of technology milestones 
  • Own and set direction to drive key module innovations and cost reduction efforts as part of the Model of Record
  • Develop the new technology node until mature manufacturing capability, driving critical program metrics 
  • Establish and prioritize projects/processes that support R&D objectives and enhance the organization’s performance  
  • Leverage across node learning to develop for manufacturability
  • Work with manufacturing fabs and central teams to facilitate the successful transfer of new technology 
  • Work effectively with other department leaders to drive company strategy and initiatives 
  • Understand the impact and implications of R&D strategy to the overall company strategy and ensure alignment and strong execution 
  • Maintain area procedures and training required to ensure legal compliance and conformance to a management system 
  • Provide regular reporting including high level summaries and presentations for executive role up and communication to key stake holders 
  • Lead global cross-functional taskforce teams
  • Champion Technology Development initiatives

 

Requirements: 

  • PhD degree in Electrical engineering, Device Physics (or minimum Master of Engineering in related engineering fields with over 20 years of DRAM process integration experience) 
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in Semiconductor industry, at least 15 in DRAM Process Integration; a mix of R&D, transfer and manufacturing is preferred 
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in leading both DRAM Process Integration (including Device) and Process Engineering teams
  • Program Management experience including timeline and resource and budget planning, and metrics definition and tracking 
  • Deep knowledge of DRAM development and transfer methodology including experience with transferring least three DRAM technology nodes  
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of DRAM process integration and good understanding of CMOS and access device characteristics
  • Strong structural integration skills, and well versed with the electrical understanding of DRAM operation including probe functional and margin bins, failure mechanisms and related failure analysis, lab characterization, including design rule and parametric test structures
  • Good understanding of unit process engineering, including inline measurements, defect inspection and characterization methods
  • Must possess a fundamental understanding of semiconductor devices with a clear understanding of device scaling issues, device degradation and reliability mechanisms, and good understanding of electrical, physical and elemental analysis and characterization methods 
  • Strong at solving complex problems including experience with leading cross-functional taskforces  
  • Fluent in English 
  • Mandarin fluency (verbal and written) required
  • Flexible with international travel, including short or long-term assignments as needed
