The SSD Mechanical Engineering Lead will be responsible for the daily operations of the mechanical design team. You will design, implement, and document mechanical designs as well as lead a Mechanical Engineering team. The ability to prioritize engineering decisions, balance multiple projects simultaneously, work cross-functionally, collaborate with internal partners. The primary focus will be on project engineering and management which will include design, research, prototyping, product improvements, process improvements and engineering documentation. You will schedule, plan, forecast, resource, and manage all the technical activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality, from concept thru high volume manufacture.

You will be committed to employee development and engagement, and will have the ability to develop and maintain a strong team. The ME Lead is responsible for current and future work, and ensuring that the products are designed to meet system and manufacturing specifications.

In addition to the strong leadership capabilities, the ME Lead will be heavily involved with all aspects of the daily operations, and will be a hands-on mechanical design contributor to the projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and document all mechanical team work following best in class processes
  • Lead the Mechanical Engineering function and Team
  • Represent the mechanical team in all cross-discipline activities in problem solving or planning future products
  • Strive to achieve the highest level of performance for the mechanical team
  • Support, promote, and execute company initiatives
  • Provide timely customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Establish and maintain a collaboration culture through leadership, experience, positive attitude, inspiration, and training
  • Drive process improvements in the mechanical and HW organization
  • Set team expectations, provide feedback, coaching, and accountability to insure individuals meet company expectations as needed and during formal performance evaluations.
  • Develop the Mechanical Engineering team through leadership, mentoring, and training.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to upholding the highest standards with on time delivery, and the quality of our products.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with 10 years of meaningful mechanical and thermal design experience and 3+ years in a team lead position
  • Proven experience designing packaged electronic products for high volume manufacture
  • Expert in 3D CAD software, solidworks, flowtherm, or equivalent tools
  • Strong DFM (design for manufacturing) skills required along with the ability to design products for manufacturing automation
  • Strong mechanical engineering aptitude with demonstrated results in thermal management of high power electronics
  • Strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage numerous projects and initiatives with varying priorities
  • Proven ability to accept and give direction, set expectations, and hold team members accountable to meet schedule, budget, and customer expectations
  • Participate as a “player-coach” with the ability to engage in development activities as an individual contributor.
  • Knowledge of DFMA principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Decision-making ability and leadership skills required
  • Time management and organization skills required
