IT Regional Network Engineer

As a Regional Network Engineer, you will be part of a fast paced, dynamic team that is responsible for supporting the networking hardware and software at Micron. Within this team we have a direct stake in planning designing, and implementing innovative network infrastructure, provide support for critical events, and provide outstanding communication.

 

Responsibilities as an IT network engineer include, but not limited to:

 

Plan, design, and analyze costs of network infrastructure for mergers, acquisitions, and new/existing site construction or expansion.

  • Support IT Engineering site(s) network operations for Western US region, Seattle, Folsom, Irvine, San Diego, San Jose Lab Customer representation (Travel Required)
  • Identify and resolve needs for the site(s) such as, bandwidth, network, etc
  • Research new equipment including cost based on business requirements as well as hardware lifecycle based on the IT Roadmap
  • Actively participate in the IT projects that seamlessly integrate new optimized solutions into existing network solutions enterprise wide
  • Identify, recommend, and coordinate needed equipment (routers, circuits, concentrators, switches, servers, etc.).
  • Interact with vendors, service providers, IT security. and business units for integration of services and systems.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the integration and support for new equipment
  • Work with the global network teams to incorporate Micron standards and preferred practices into local site network builds.
  • Identify innovative ways to continually improve the user experience

 

Provide critical issue reports to operational network support teams (wired and wireless), voice, data, and video infrastructure for the worldwide Micron enterprise.

  • Provide an escalation point for global operational network teams
  • Handle contractor support personnel in the operational tasks
  • Coordinate with vendors regarding updates to equipment and the equipment lifecycle
  • Help build monitoring systems that meet the needs of the sites and Operations teams
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners for upgrades to services and systems
  • Configure, Operate, and Optimize performance of existing and new equipment
  • Document processes and procedures

 

Communicate the status of the unified network (wired and wireless), voice, data, and video infrastructure.

  • Provide formal corporate communications on directional changes or changes that will impact existing services
  • Keep business units advised on the status
  • Educate business units on the feasibility and limitations of the technologies in the environment
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding network communications.
  • Communicate and collaborate with peer groups (enterprise architects, security team, server team, etc.

 

Experience Required:

  • BS Computer Engineering
  • Wireless LAN Networks, VLAN, WAN technologies, DNS management, Network access control technologies, IP address management, routing management, Network monitoring and management applications, and subnet assignment
  • Cisco systems
  • Application of QOS to support Voice and Video
  • Leadership, coaching, and mentoring
  • Experience with EIGRP and BGP
  • Experience with scripting for automation or API access
