As a UCC Engineer at Micron Technology, you will be designing and managing the UCC environments for a Micron Technology on a global level.  This environment is a 40,000+ size global user base. You will be responsible for evaluating, designing, configuring, and implementing hardware and software components for cloud and on-premise voice, video, chat, IM and conferencing.  This will include, but is not limited to, the following ecosystem technologies – Skype for Business (SfB), Skype Mobile, Avaya, and Polycom video conferencing infrastructure.

You will work with global team members to help maintain technical roadmaps and assist in project forecasting.  Additionally, you will lead research and development efforts pertaining to development of new features and capabilities within the global UCC ecosystem.  You will also meet with Micron’s Business Units to ensure solutions meet or exceed business requirements. 



  • Define, architect (design), and implement enterprise communication and meeting solutions covering email, voice, video, chat, and teleconferencing  
  • Design and implement the strategy for transitioning PBX voice to SfB office and mobile voice
  • Define, in conjunction with users and service providers, the quality standards required to support business collaboration
  • Actively participate in developing operational models, processes, and procedures
  • Manage system setup and standardization of features and usage (Skype and Avaya)
  • Install, configure, upgrade, support, and maintain on premise Skype and Polycom environments
  • Create system documentation, testing, training, and post-deployment/upgrade assessments including regular system health checks for Skype, including the mobile platform
  • Manage L2 support teams with skills and knowledge to address operational support needs
  • Manage and monitor load balancing for Skype
  • Enable and support the use of mobility for voice, video and sharing of content



  • Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology or related discipline (Computer Science, Software Engineering, Math) and 7+ years related work experience with operating system hardware and/or software and components
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5-7 years of experience with IT infrastructure in a large IT environment with many categories of devices, infrastructures, and operating systems; experience could include mainframe and/or distributed environments
  • Microsoft Skype for Business, Skype for Business Mobile, Infrastructure, and Clients
  • Microsoft Office 365 tenancy administration
  • Experience with implementing Office 365 and Exchange On-Line
  • Experience deploying Microsoft Skype for Business over virtual clients, wireless environments, and remote environments  
  • In-depth knowledge of High-Availability computing and networking (load balancing, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS)
  • PowerShell, and/or other scripting tools experience required
  • Deep technical expertise in messaging, video, voice, web conferencing (e.g. Skype, Vidyo, Blue Jeans), and IP telephony technologies
  • UCC Communications Protocols (SIP, RTV, WebRTC, H.264, and H.323) and understanding the impact of QoS in the UCC ecosystem.
