Planners have responsibility and accountability to enable Micron to meet sales and business unit objectives while considering customer service, capital optimization, corporate strategy and inventory cost.


As a Supply Chain Planner at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for generating the 0-24-month Constrained Demand signal and Supply Plan, Customer Support Plan, and inventory signal, including generation and oversight of planning scenarios, and publish of quarterly business plans. To do so, you will consider inputs such as wafer ramp plan, roadmap, BU priorities, yield updates, and engineering requirements.  In the tactical horizon, this role will collaborate often with Tactical Supply Planning, Manufacturing Planning, Sales, and Marketing to generate the weekly Constrained Demand signal and Customer Support Plan, quantify risk and opportunities based on business plan objectives, and administer the constrained planning processes. In addition, you will analyze Supply-Demand variances and collaborate with Tactical Supply Planners to close gaps, ensure healthy inventory levels by facilitating action on risk, slow moving, and orphaned inventory, and monitor and improve key performance metrics and processes.


The Supply Chain Planner is the key interface between the Sales teams, Tactical Supply Planning, and Marketing and must be able to effectively communicate sales risk, tradeoffs, and impact of changes in supply or demand. The Supply Chain Planner must also be able to optimize deployment of capital, effectively analyze inventory levels (internally and in the channel), monitor actual results versus forecast, recommend adjustments, and perform post-mortem analysis on forecast variances.


Roles Responsibilities & Tasks


Analyze and Facilitate Supply/Demand Matching

  • Analyze demand, supply and shipments trends using statistical tools to identify opportunities and risks to revenue plan and business plan objectives
  • Create methodologies/automated process to analyze supply solve and find root cause for supply shortages
  • Analyze key demand information from end-customer backlog, key customer forecast, Point-Of-Sales and factory backlog using a statistical and rule-based Demand Analytics engine
  • Skilled at synthesizing large amounts of quantitative and qualitative information and translating into meaningful strategies for Sr. Leaders
  • Incorporate key metrics reviews into weekly Constrained Demand meetings
  • Perform demand accuracy, statistical and trend analysis to drive a refined demand signal
  • Identify and quantify risk and opportunities based on business plan objectives
  • Provide alternative solutions to Sales and Marketing regarding demand and supply gaps
  • Facilitate discussion on mitigation, trade-offs or alternatives to close gaps
  • Provide pre-warning communication regarding risk or opportunities to CSP
  • Document agreements and incorporate into Constrained Demand as appropriate
  • Understand Frontend and Backend manufacturing sensitivities and communicate to stakeholders
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders to Produce Monthly Executive Review of the Operations Plan
  • Manage and Analyze Scenario Options
  • Provide Process Support and Ideas for Improvements


Drive Sales Plan Attainment

  • Organize, lead, and provide analysis in executive and business management forums to drive alignment to strategy
  • Strives to remain objective, make decisions and recommendations, and resolve conflicts based on data and compelling analytics
  • Monitor actual demand versus forecast and engage Sales and Customer Account Teams to understand root cause
  • Ensure Marketing objectives around segments, customers, product lifecycle stages are contemplated in the development of the Sales Plan
  • Able to work under continual deadline constraints


Generate Constrained Demand

  • Collaborate with Tactical Supply Planning, Sales, and Marketing to generate and manage Constrained Demand
  • Review multiple demand signals, trends, and delta comparisons as inputs to Constrained Demand, and make recommendations based on review and discussion
  • Collaborate with Sales and New Product Planning teams to ensure product lifecycle stages are contemplated in the development of Constrained Demand
  • Facilitate Constrained Demand preparation and review meetings to review deltas from prior cycle
  • Drive interlock between stakeholders by building highly collaborative and productive relationships
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain and Tactical Supply Planners to prioritize constrained capacity/die as needed
  • Recommend forecast adjustments required to achieve customer service levels and stock targets while minimizing excess inventory risk
  • Able to align internal stakeholders within Sales, Marketing, and Planning
  • Flexibility in managing competing priorities and changing expectations while achieving results


Generate Customer Support Plan

  • Collaborate with Tactical Supply Planning and Marketing to generate, manage, and execute to a supply-feasible Customer Support Plan (CSP)
  • Orchestrate the global communication and customer commitment expectation via the CSP and Allocation
  • Balance customer demand variability to ensure Corporate Financial and Inventory targets are achieved
  • Proficient at seeing the big picture while paying attention to detail
  • Able to work with stakeholders in other geographies or functions
  • Passion for continuously improve the process, tools, reporting, and communications to achieve business objectives


Monitor and Respond to Inventory Levels

  • Evaluate inventory mix to identify slow moving, orphaned, overstocked, or quality hold inventories and collaborate with stakeholders to develop appropriate actions to consume or scrap
  • Validate inventory service levels / replenishment targets
  • Collaborate with the Finance team on inventory reconciliation and cash flow projections and planning.
  • Participate in Cross-Marketing interlock meetings to ensure wafers are properly balanced across all Marketing groups for maximum revenue opportunities


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ideal candidates will possess a firm grasp of Supply Chain fundamentals and demonstrate strong analytical skills, problem solving, results orientation, stakeholder management, customer orientation, innovation, change management/adaptability, influence, strategic thinking, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Basic Knowledge of Design of Experiments, Statistics
  • Working knowledge in database query language (PL/SQL), data analysis tools (Excel Macros, Access, SPSS, SAS), Statistical packages (JMP, MINITAB), and supply chain applications (SAP, ERP) is highly desirable
  • Have a demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic, cross functional, team oriented environment.
  • Ability to effectively drive collaboration across partners and manage conflicting viewpoints
  • Ability to influence others using a variety of approaches with or without positional authority
  • Comfort in dealing with ambiguity



M.S./M.A. in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, Operations Research
