Director Field Applications Engineering and Solutions Architecture

We are looking for a senior leader to be a part of this innovation and drive our customer technical engagements in Compute and Storage as part of the Micron Sales Organization.


This Leader will be a Director of Field Application Engineers and lead a worldwide team of FAEs and Solution Architects focused on Technical Engagement with Micron customers in multiple market segments related to computing and storage - traditional Enterprise, Cloud, Client, Networking and Graphics Solutions. This role will be part of the Sales Organization and feeding into short term and long-term business generation activities that supports a revenue of over $12B a year. The Director of FAEs is a senior management role with expectations of thought and technical leadership. This person will interact with senior and executive management on strategy setting for the team aligned with Corporate, Sales and Business Unit (BU) goals. The leader will also interact with key business and technical leadership at customers.



The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more areas below:

  • Strong understanding of the Compute and Storage Market from traditional enterprise storage to emerging trends in software defined storage, cloud computing and storage, application driven innovations in memory and storage.
  • Exhibit a customer focused approach. Experience working with customers in evaluating customer requirements, early engagement to enable product definitions and execution of Design Wins. Existing relationships with customers in the compute and storage ecosystem and demonstrated ability to influence key decision makers is expected
  • Strong Technical background in Datacenter Design and large scale infrastructure deployment, strong understanding of critical workloads/use-cases and related factors in infrastructure design and configuration, a critical understanding of the technology stack from software to hardware that can drive memory and storage innovations. Experience in product development focused on applications and end customer use cases will be beneficial.
  • Experience with AI/ML based workloads, applications development that drives these trends will be an asset
  • Experience in engaging with CxO staff, presenting the voice of the customer and the market, driving and influencing decisions among internal leadership is an expectation.
  • Have an aggressive approach to customer engagement and constantly strive to be best in class with respect to competition.
  • Demonstrated people leadership. Demonstrated ability to bring a metrics driven culture enabling accountability and decision making with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Must be a strategic leader/thinker, action-oriented, customer focused, deal well with ambiguity, managing change, have solid planning/organizational skills, and be effective at managing systems, processes and people.
  • Working effectively with peers and cross-group is critical; strong interpersonal skills and organizational agility are a necessity.
  • Experience working with large global organizations


Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:

  • Be a thought leader in the industry and in Micron. Be able to represent Micron in industry forums and events.
  • Build relationships with key decision makers in the customer’s BU and Engineering Organizations.
    • Enable a relationship of trust and partnership with customers through technical excellence and responsiveness.
  • Work closely with Business Units, Quality and Engineering teams to drive product requirements and product definition processes
  • Drive close alignment with Sales leaders and Sales goals focused on demand creation and revenue
  • Foster cross-department collaboration to align customer technical support. Engage in corporate business strategy and advise senior and executive management in relation to strategic decisions for customer engagement
  • Provide technical leadership with a thorough knowledge of Micron’s full product portfolio of products and customer’s applications.
    • Have a strong understanding of market dynamics, customer strategy and Micron strategy.
  • Drive a disciplined Business Process Management approach to Design Wins at Customers
  • Drive Voice of Customer into product development strategies in Micron
  • Develop and implement team recognition and visibility initiatives

This is a US based role with the ideal location being our Boise, ID or San Jose, CA office but we are open to considering remote, home-based possibilities.
