Job Description


The primary role of the Sr. Manager Category Analytics is to lead a team responsible for translating data into intelligence easily absorbed by procurement category staff to support enhanced decision-making and build a competitive advantage for Micron Procurement. The successful candidate is responsible for establishing processes for consistent engagement of category stakeholders, transparency in execution of tasks and backlog, and for ensuring consistency of cost savings reporting across the categories.


The Sr. Manager Category Analytics shall closely collaborate with the global procurement data and analytics group, finance, and smart manufacturing group to ensure category analysts have access to the data and tools they need for analysis including internal Micron transactional data and external sourcing, and market intelligence data. The individual in this role will be key in supporting strategic activities and tactical cost savings targets by providing relevant recommendations based on assessments of available market and transactional data.


Role Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Lead a team of Category Analysts and ensure they have the training, tools, and data needed to provide GP category teams with the reporting and analysis necessary to support effective decision making.
  • Establish a program for training/progression of Analyst capability and skill set including a rotational development program across categories.
  • Facilitate GP's cost program, including executing the process to set targets, ensure consistent monthly progress reporting across all categories.
  • Lead work processes to ensure category requests for analysis are promptly addressed and establish metrics for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure category teams have appropriate analysis as necessary for effective contract negotiations.
  • Leads business process to assess category landscapes and provide analytics and guidance to category teams as they develop and execute category strategies
  • Establishes strategy for market intelligence gathering, works with GP Data and Analytics for the collection of appropriate market data.
  • Monitor industry supply chain trends (macroeconomic conditions, business processes, challenges) and act as subject matter authority for supply chain cost trends.
  • Collaborate with peers in the Micron organization (technology, marketing, finance) to collect relevant intelligence.
  • Work with the Procurement Data and Analytics group to ensure category analysts have access to transactional data, tools, and market intelligence necessary to satisfy category partner needs for information.
  • Identify areas of opportunities to demonstrate analytics in integrated planning across supply network

10 Years’ Experience in related field:

  • Controller/cost control analytics
  • Market cost intelligence (Should cost experience)
  • Business analytics



  • Experience implementing best practices
  • Experience in business analytics, market research, business strategy and market and competitive intelligence
  • Experience in Procurement/Supply Chain Management subject area desired
  • Demonstrated process thinking and excellent attention to details
  • Able to work effectively in a cross-functional and dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical and metric skills
  • Proven leadership of continuous improvement teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent facilitation and issue resolution skills; ability to drive consensus
  • Ability to filter through myriad data sources to contextualize viable opportunities and implications
