Senior Director - Cost, Capex & Inventory Controller

As the Senior Director – Cost, Capex & Inventory Controller at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible for the financial planning and controlling of Micron’s overall cost, capital expenditures (Capex) and inventories. You will analyze and drive value creation from Micron’s Capex budget, build cost transparency, and ensure appropriate inventory levels, while establishing accountability and identifying areas for improvement. You will collaborate with various global departments both inside the Finance function (Accounting, Manufacturing Finance, FP&A, Business Unit Finance, etc.) and outside of it (Manufacturing, Business Units, Supply Chain, Procurement, IT) across all levels of the organization (including the executive level) to help optimize the financial performance of the company.


We are looking for a senior experienced leader with a proven track record and demonstrated ability to attract, hire and retain top talent. You will be comfortable working in a dynamic, iterative environment that also affords the stability of a global, well-established and competitive technology company.


Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Consolidate, manage and monitor Capex budgets for the company
  • Establish Capex targets and accountability, and optimize capital allocation with the goal to improve return-on-investment (ROI)
  • Track and project Capex-spending
  • Further develop project-based Capex Controlling
  • Cost planning, consolidation and accounting
  • Maintain and further develop Micron’s global Standard Costing System
  • Build a framework and process for effective cost management and analysis
  • Develop and publish Company-level cost reports, forecasts and analysis to provide meaningful insight and guide management decision-making
  • Define and implement costing rules and principles and lead all aspects of their consistent application
  • Ensure compliance of costing data with GAAP, Micron accounting policies and practices, and other relevant rules and regulations
  • Inventory accounting and controlling to optimize inventory-levels
  • Business Partnership for Global Ops functions located in the US (Global Procurement, IT, Global Supply Chain)
  • US-based representative of the global Operations Finance function
  • Lead proactively in developing and implementing new financial processes in your areas of responsibility to meet changing business needs
  • Collaborate with other leaders and teams inside and outside the global Finance organization to develop highly effective working relationships
  • Develop a hard-working team and resilient organization, including resource planning, training, mentoring, rewarding, and developing succession plans


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor and/or Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Additional professional qualifications like CPA, CFA, CMA preferred
  • At least 15 years of work experience in Finance, Accounting, Financial Controlling or related fields in the manufacturing industry (electronics manufacturing, semiconductors or other high-tech industries preferred)
  • At least 10 years of leadership experience, ideally in globally dispersed teams
