As an SSD Systems Architect/Technologist, you will be an integral part of the architecture and product planning team to define storage systems for our customers. Micron’s SSD group is looking for a recent college graduate with expertise and interest in developing new technology and exhibits technical knowledge of storage system solutions.

 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

 

  • Define detailed SSD product requirements and develop new product architecture specifications
  • Generate new intellectual property, patents, technical presentations and/or publications, trade secrets, etc
  • Model and analyze performance, latency, and power from host-driven workloads
  • Maintain strong technical engineering relationships with customers, partner system architects and key technologists
  • Work with other architects, technologists, design engineers and engineering teams to ensure successful implementation and feasibility demonstration of new product concepts
  • Evangelize new storage products, technologies, and capabilities
  • Identify and stay abreast of key technical trends and competitive landscapes within the storage industry
  • Influence different technical disciplines with reach spanning across geographic areas, organizational boundaries, and the industry

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Successful candidates for this position will have:

 

  • Solid understanding of storage device architecture via relevant coursework
  • Systems experience:
    • A proven track record of delivering SSD and/or HDD products to market
    • Operating systems such as Linux, Windows, VMware, etc
    • Storage systems such as RAID, Blades, Workstations, etc
    • Host system device drivers and application analysis
  • Technical skills, including detailed knowledge of:
    • Storage device protocols such as PCIe/NVMe, SATA/ATA, SAS, etc
    • NAND flash operation, including array behaviors, error management techniques, ONFI/toggle interfaces, etc
    • Firmware operation, including logical to physical mapping, power-loss protection, command prioritization, scheduling, caching, etc
    • ASIC/SoC operation, including host-to-media data flow, end-to-end data protection schemes, automation, pacing hardware, etc
  • Able to work with engineers across multiple disciplines, as well as customers of various positions
  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally
  • BSEE or equivalent required, MSEE or PhD strongly preferred
