As R&D Dry Etch Process Development Engineers at Micron Technology, Inc., we develop, design, and optimize plasma dry etch processes for Micron's leading-edge memory parts. As a team, we have the exciting responsibility to design and optimize plasma etch processes! This significant position enables you to take ideas from conception, through process development, all the way to implementation in our production facilities. You will tackle day to day challenging tactical and technical problems that makes your process and module extremely robust. Your primary areas of responsibility include development and characterization of plasma etch processes, optimization, troubleshooting, process transfer, and fundamental research. We work in a very collaborative atmosphere where dry etch engineers interact with various groups such as process integration, electrical failure analysis, yield enhancement, manufacturing, and equipment vendors to ensure robust etch processes that meet the precise physical and electrical requirements for Micron products. Experienced engineers will be key drivers of multi-area technology roadmaps which has a direct influence in Micron’s global leadership in semiconductor manufacturing. You could also be traveling to

 

Micron global locations to support new part start-up and troubleshooting.

This position requires an aptitude for a research and development environment, good organization skills and the ability to work independently or in a team environment. This role is very critical to the success of Micron's products and may require travel to Micron manufacturing sites.

 

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

R&D Pilot Line Fab

  • Developing processes to meet structural and electrical specifications
  • Driving dry etch and influencing technology roadmaps
  • Delivering advanced technology to meet future product nodes
  • Supporting root cause defect and unique fail mode analysis
  • Process Integration
  • Updating the Fab engineers on customer issues and technology needs
  • Manage wafers though Dry Etch levels in support of special requirements

 

Other Process Areas

  • Work with diverse teams to jointly develop device structures
  • Support multi-functional failure analysis and yield improvement

 

Dry Etch peers

  • Maintain or develop expertise in multiple process, hardware, or technology areas.
  • Be a resource for peers in recipe & process development.

 

Qualifications:

  • Understand Transport phenomena, Electromagnetics, Atomic/Molecular physics, and Surface phenomena
  • Proven trouble shooting, experimental design and data analysis skills
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office
  • Familiarity or expertise with data analysis software such as JmP, and Python will be beneficial
  • Understand the principles of dry etch processing and have a basic understanding of plasma sources used in plasma etching
  • Understand process control and Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • An understanding of solid-state devices (optional)

 

Education/Experience:

  • You have a PhD/MS or BS with at least 5 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics
