R&D Device Characterization Engineer

As engineers in the parametric test and device characterization group at Micron Technology, Inc., we support technology development by developing, deploying, and reporting results from electrical device characterization on groundbreaking memory and storage solutions! In this role, you will be working with CMOS and interconnect characterization, and have the opportunity to characterize novel memory cells and device architectures. In addition, you will partner with engineering teams from process integration, process development, modeling, design, product, and quality & reliability.


Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Working closely with multiple cross-functional teams within technology development;
  • Applying your strong background in semiconductor devices, solid-state physics, CMOS, semiconductor processing and electrical characterization;
  • Employing your deep understanding of device operation in-memory systems including NAND, DRAM, storage class, and cross-point memories;
  • Independently learning innovative memory systems;
  • Drawing data-driven conclusions for process improvements and technology development;
  • Reporting results in a professional, collaborative engineering environment;


Successful candidates have the following qualifications:

  • Self-motivated and hardworking to find creative solutions to challenges;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written;
  • Strong data analysis skills and experience in automating data analysis methods;
  • Experience in the operation and automation of semiconductor instrumentation including, but not limited to:
    • Parameter analyzers, SPA, SMU
    • LCR meters
    • Network analyzers
    • Oscilloscopes
    • Pulse & waveform generators
    • Wafer probe stations
    • ATE and bench systems
  • Knowledgeable in a variety of software tools and operating systems, including but not limited to:
    • Python, C/C++, JMP/JSL
    • Unix/Linux/Windows
    • Database interaction languages such as SQL
    • Development and revision control tools
  • MS/PhD in EE/EECS or BS plus 5 years relevant industrial experience;
