Legal Operations - Information Governance

The Legal Operations Information Governance, Records Management and eDiscovery role within Micron’s Legal Operations team is responsible for the Legal Department’s intersection with information governance across compliance, risk management, data protection, and records retention, archiving and disposal; is responsible for the enterprise records management and eDiscovery processes and programs; collaborates with IT and other technical services supporting these processes and programs; and may act as the system administrator for technical solutions. This position also participates in cross-functional committees, including the records management and corporate data protection programs and helps drive alignment among the programs and supporting solutions. It is encouraged that this position will lead through influence and drive the right processes and system designs.


Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Records Management

  • Record Manager for management of Micron’s enterprise-wide records management program for electronic and hard-copy records
  • Establish ownership and accountability for the records management program within business units and departments
  • Coordinate continued development and updates to retention guidelines in response to regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Arrange for continuous training and communication on records management policies and procedures throughout the organization
  • Department records coordinator for the legal department’s compliance with records retention, archiving and disposal requirements


Data Classification

  • Collaborate as a member of the Data Classification Community of Practice to support Micron’s enterprise-wide data classification program
  • Act as the legal department’s Classification Manager for the legal department’s compliance with data classification requirements



  • Support processes and technologies to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of Micron’s eDiscovery program
  • Collaborate regarding eDiscovery requirements for litigation and investigations
  • Liaison with IT groups in connection with litigation holds and data collection and storage


Knowledge Management

  • Drive the development of methods to appropriately manage, classify, retain, secure, and make available information in furtherance of the legal department’s knowledge management and business continuity needs


Project/Program Management

  • Plan and coordinate schedules as well as project budgets
  • Supervise projects from inception through delivery
  • Lead all aspects of the work of external vendors



  • BA or BS degree
  • MS degree preferred



  • Work effectively in a cross-functional and multifaceted environment
  • Proven experience implementing software solutions and platform(s)
  • 5-7 years of experience in the following desired:
  • Process, project and change management
  • Sophisticated knowledge of data and processes in a global company with complex manufacturing operations
  • Experience working with metadata and metadata solutions, with experience with O365 eDiscovery and Relativity desired
